What to do with Isaiah Wynn

Bill literally picking OLmen off the streets. What was Patricia doing eating pizza in ND? Hey, maybe this dude will be the Malcolm Butler of the OL, who knows.

Cajuste is on IR.
We traded Herron.
Folks want to get rid of Wynn.
Cannon and Brown have had injury issues.

FOR NOW
We have Brown, Cannon, Wynn and no backups. I guess we could move Onwenu to RT if there is an injury, creating a huge hole at RG. We don't have backup OG's either.

AS FOLKS HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR MONTHS
We need more capable bodies on the OL.

His attitude is directly related to being switched to RT, imo.
He was probably hoping to be auditioning for LT money in his contract year. I don't see us making any significant changes. 4/5ths of the line are playing great. One potentially interesting move could be moving Wynn to RG and Onwenu to RT. I doubt anything happens until the bye week though. Still I doubt that would happen.

Yup. You've been saying for months that Bill would sign a veteran OLer. It never happened. I'll go out on a limb and speculate that Cannon wasn't the veteran you had in mind. Maybe I'm wrong.

We still need a backup OG. (and now another OT)

You are correct. I wasn't thinking of Cannon. I thought that we were OK with Herron and Cajuste as backups (and Onwenu if we have a backup OG). The OT position became a critical need when Herron was useless and Cajuste was injured (AND when Wynn seemed to decline).

I don't think the pats are going to extend him... But what are the possibilities of moving Wynn to guard? He plays some lg at Georgia...

No we are pretty set @ Guard even the Strange kid has looked good there. Wynn wouldn't be able to handle those DT's from a strength stand point he plays very weak.

This just smells like Desperation to me. You know, when you go through your contacts list and nobody else will answer the call but the cousin of a friend's cousin that you were introduced to once at someone else's wedding that you didn't want to attend in the first place.

Oh wait I heard he can play OL, let's sign him cos our line is playing like dog poo! Never mind that he has more experience handing out slices of pizza than actually blocking people! :poop:

Hope it works out for him, but excuse me if I don't hold the highest hopes for Pizza parlor guy.

The problem is so does most of the NFL.
So, then the issue is whether anything needs to be done. We have our 8 active OL's on the 53

ACTIVES ON THE 53 (we have 8 OL's active on Game Day)
Brown, Cannon, Wynn, Andrews, Ferentz, Strange, Onwenu, Hines

BACKUPS ON THE 53
All gone: used to be Cajuste and Herron

Do We NEED More?
Or are the Practice Squad enough if we have an injury or two?

MY CONCLUSION
is that we need to trade for a veteran OG, hopefully one that can back up at center in the future.

For PS? No. Signing him to the 53 when he was delivering pizzas last week is.

We do... Just not sure if the Pizza Man qualifies as a capable body...

Guy got benched in the Packers game... Benched and I didnt even notice... though I should have...

hes not a all time great tackle.... but he's also not Alex Leatherwood or Tony Mandarich by any stretch of the imagination, though some will try to lead you to believe that... with that said though, he's playing like crap, tbh... its like he has zero motivation out there... lackadaisical blocks, getting out hustled... there is no reason any edge rusher should be able to run wide right around him... but we've seen it time and time again.. one half hearted push by wynn, and wham, the qb is eating grass...

We have seen in the past that the guy can play... its a contract year for him... I'd like Billy Yates to take it upon himself to make Wynns life truly miserable until he snaps out of it and starts playing... think he's going to be able to take his head outta his ass and start playing football?
Wynn is playing right tackle, he was drafted and played well at left tackle.. he was brady's blind slide protector..the last super bowl run.. so the guys not a bad player.

He was switched to right tackle this season and the move has been a mental struggle for him.. we must start to wonder about the BUY- IN of the players.. it looks like he's mentally checked out.. you don't get all the way to this level and just suck..

The NFL is a mental grind.. if we continue to loose we'll see more players check out.

To quote my old friend Caiaphas, There you have it, (ladies and) gentlemen, what more evidence do we need?

Lose/Lose's days as an automatic starter here are Ovah.
You tell em Coach cap. :)

That was Trent Brown... Lose/Lose was IRed for the year when he popped his Achilles' during the pre-season... playing Right Tackle... Ya think they might've learned something from that...
