Player Signing Patriots to sign Jamie Collins

If they don't trade back they don't have another talented rookie on the team. Trading back was smart.
So taking a player higher in the draft would prevent them from getting a talented rookie?

I don't think that's how that works.

I'm not ready to say that but they absolutely need better play at LB.
And with this cast of misfits easier said than done... they are easy to run on we know that they are already a feast for RB's who flares out of the Backfield.

They need some help next to Bentley.

He is their traditional SAM backer, they need a faster more athletic option than Raekwon and McMillan.
Wilson was supposed to be that player but has yet to emerge.

Hopefully Jamie has some gas in the tank left.

I thought McMillan and Wilson's "athleticism" or "speed" was overblown this offseason. Neither of these guys are a plus athlete or really fast. I'd guess a healthy Collins at 33 is still faster, more mobile and explosive than either of these guys. Collins joined this team and didn't play until late in the season last year. He started the last two games and had been mostly been playing special teams to that point. Maybe that's all they want him for now... who knows. The guy is an athletic specimen.

One pick turns into multiple picks when you trade back... that's exactly how it works.
But you could have one game changing rookie or one not-as-good and another not-quite-as-good as the previous guy.

Sometime (hell oftentimes) it's better to just pick where you're at. You can make the quantity over quality argument if you want but the Pats have a dearth of quality right now.

Cole Strange has already been a game changing rookie.

I'll take Strange, Marcus Jones and Jack Jones over simply taking Lloyd.

Btw Vinny Brown was the strongest p4p player of the 90s. Once saw him bench press a 250lb defender off him from under a pile. Guy went flying

BB is following the storyline from the Expendables 3, where Sly fires all his old trusted guys, for a group of younger and faster ones, the younger ones get their teeth kicked in and kidnapped by Mel Gibson and Sly has to bring back the old guys (and their stunt men) to rescue them.

Pretty much what BB is doing here (without the stunt men)
Fixed it for you

My understanding of McM was he was more of a north/south guy in Flo's system and in OAK and Wilson was more of a sideline-to-sideline guy. I could be wrong.

Jamie is freak. If used properly he can do well and make plays.

UGH.. I hate that they are bringing this guy back. He's good for a couple GOOD plays a season. But he's crap beyond that.

I am all for it if the coaches really believe it will improve our LB play....

BB turned that 21 into Strange, Zappe, Jack Jones, and a 2023 3rd. It's a(n educated) crapshoot, especially with his recent history of picking busts, but so far I like that trade. Who knows, though, when it's all said and done.

Kind of a bummer that Mcmillan and Wilson haven't worked out, not even sure if Perkins still has a locker.
Jamie is really athletic, but seems to just disappear for games at a time.

That's how I feel too DaB we're in trouble.
