In fact he hardly ever sees them - when is the last time he hit a guy who's wide open due to a defensive breakdown? We see pics like Lil Jordan every week. He seems to be locking onto targets too early, not surveying the field, which is probably a habit from not having enough time. As the OL improves and plays more like the other day, he needs to break that habit.Mac missing a. Wide open lil Jordan for over 2 seconds is not coaching . Mac seems to be making bad decisions and less trustworthy of his line.
I think the Bills exposed Tannehill as a guy who can't be relied on when his OL breaks down and when his running game isn't there. Mac right now is the same but he's a second year player and Tannehill is in his 11th season...For me I would take Lawrence, Tannehill and Hurts off the list. I think Mac is as good as those three right now.
I don't think he's healthy. He was chucking the ball in the early part of camp then it stopped. Could be the knee. Could be the back.I think people are discounting that Mac missed a day of practice this week with illness, which may or may not have been continuing back spasms. I think both could have affected Mac's performance in this game.
If it's indeed another injury is it fair to say he may be a bit brittle? One last year(shoulder i believe) and one this yearI don't think he's healthy. He was chucking the ball in the early part of camp then it stopped. Could be the knee. Could be the back.
Might also be due to reverting back to old mechanics. Kinda like a golf swing. One takes a lesson, hits the range a few times and the new motion is working but once you're 190 yards out and golf anxiety sets in you revert to the old swing.
Not fair, Mac got the crap kicked out of him in Miami game. Injuries are a fact of life in the NFL, even JC12 had injuries. The difference between tough and brittle is the ability to play through injuries. If it's indeed another injury is it fair to say he may be a bit brittle? One last year(shoulder i believe) and one this year
I wouldn't fight that too hard. I think you could easily make the argument Tannehill has benefited largely from Derrick Henry dominating as a runner the last 3-4 years. Lawrence I think has far superior physical tools but was derailed in his rookie year by a complete circus. I doubt he ends up as the generational superstar that he was billed to be but I still think he can be a top 5-10 QB for a while if he hits his peak. For me I would take Lawrence, Tannehill and Hurts off the list. I think Mac is as good as those three right now.

I agree that Jimmy has probably hit his ceiling but that's why I hammered the "right now" piece. If I were to factor in all things like age, contracts, etc then some things would shift but I made my list based on who strictly looks better, worse, or the same right now based on the play on the field.I do disagree with a few that you have better than, and a couple that you have as equally. I will agree that Jimmy is better but he should be with his experience.
Everyone gets hurt. It's playing though injury and helping the team win is what matters. If it's indeed another injury is it fair to say he may be a bit brittle? One last year(shoulder i believe) and one this year
"Awesome" is strong praiseSmith is awesome if you put the right team around him. Look what he did to us as a Chief and this is a Belichick/Brady team both times.

I agree on there being seemingly more great young quarterbacks than ever right now. The AFC especially is loaded with Lamar, Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow, Allen, all already superstars. I mean if you go back 10 years Mac is probably hovering around the 10ish range as far starting QB's in the league.Yeah. That's not saying Mac is terrible or the Patriots made a mistake drafting him or he can't possibly be in that top group someday...there's just lots of good QB's in this league now more than I can remember. The bar is high.
I think Lawrence has a much better coach now and it shows. To be fair Lawrence (and Burrow) went first overall, Mac was 5th QB off the board so I would expect both of them to be better than Mac. I know lots of us wanted to move up for Fields but I don't think it would have gone over well with us if the output we've seen so far from Fields came at the cost of premium draft picks. I think it's fair to measure up Mac to someone like Jalen Hurts. Hurts like Mac was also 5th QB off the board in his draft year - and judging by last night maybe he's finally made that jump that we all want Mac to make....
He missed wide open guys a couple times and decided to scramble and throw across his body and nearly through a horrific interception. Unless that illness affected his decision making ability he just played poorly.I think people are discounting that Mac missed a day of practice this week with illness, which may or may not have been continuing back spasms. The ball is sailing on him.
Use the tight ends.
Bourne should never come off of the field.
Yeah the excuses are getting ridiculous we are currently behind two undefeated teams. One who is clearly better *Buffalo* and one that is very talented on "O" *Miami*.He missed wide open guys a couple times and decided to scramble and throw across his body and nearly through a horrific interception. Unless that illness affected his decision making ability he just played poorly.
Wow
Too bad fantasy don't win divisions.
