Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Steelers

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Mac is the difference between a winning or losing record. So far his performance is very disappointing.
I agree that Mac has had a rough start to the season. BUT... he's still 2nd year. Most good QBs in this league don't put it all together until the 3rd year. Again my concern is his mechanics. I don't know why they are so bad.

#4: What in the world on those 2 holding calls late in the game? Both negated big first downs. Andrews sat on his guy, not a hold. And how does a back judge throw a flag on Meyers when there's a ref 2 feet away with his eyes trained on Meyers? Ridiculous.

I'm with you on this - especially the call on Andrews. Myles Jack went low and Andrews went low and pancaked him. How is that holding?

The system has changed and it is going to take the QB longer to acclimated than a lot of other positions especially a second year QB. Let’s see where he is in a month from now.

My guess on his mechanics it is because he may be overthinking as he gets acclimated to the offense.

There's a separate thread to discuss the other NFL games guys, this thread is focused on the Pats/Steelers game.

I'm a big Mac Jones fan going back to his Alabama back-up days, but I am a little bit worried about some of his play. Feels like too many high balls and today we also had a couple of really inaccurate throws i.e. the one to Henry on the side-line + the stone cold int that was dropped. Still think he can be the guy, but definitely work to be done - both by him and the whole offence.

Huge win for us! Pretty ugly win and we obviously have our work ahead of us, but a road win is always great especially in Pittsburgh!

Defense outstanding! 2 straight impressive outings. I wonder if all the people talking up trubisky this week (10x better than tua I believe i heard) will actually give credit to our guys for dominating him today? Awesome performance even if hes a lower end qb. If pickett cant take him over soon Pittsburgh should be concerned.

Shout out to cole strange , what a great showing today!! And the ol in general was good outside of the unforced procedural penalties.

Offensively i was also happy with the playcalling…other than maybe id have ran it more . Overall just more of the same from last week, trouble with consistency and finishing off drives which i dont know who to blame for or if its just a matter of time. Mac had a rough game I thought but great job in the clutch at the end with a key conversion.

St was pretty underwhelming today. Folk missed a tough fg, 2 touchbacks on punts near midfield or in their territory , bryant’s near disaster at the beginning, strongs return to the 16. Thankfully gunner’s gift kinda canceled all that out and a great play at least to fall on it.

Devante parker needs to be on the bench. IMMEDIATELY. Last week we wouldve lost regardless of if bourne was in , but this week had we lost you could’ve made an argument that this was one of the big reasons for it. I understand trying things out but you don’t want it costing you games outright.

Onto Baltimore!!

Our defense is good... but I don't know, this game didn't really change much.

The only encouraging sign was that 4th quarter rushing attack with Stevenson and Harris. That looked good.

But otherwise? I don't know. Our offense is still anemic and stoppage. Very little explosiveness.

Our defense is good, but I don't think they'll play like this against the elite teams we need to beat this year. Still a decent win though. But the offense is still concerning.

So much for all the talking heads saying Pats will go 0-4 to start the season.

Herbert had a new system last year and looked fine.

I think at this point Mac is in his head.

I believe Mac Jones hired Brady's throwing coach, Tom House, over the offseason. He might still be making adjustments to his mechanics to prepare for the pro game. I'm sure the offense system overhaul hasn't helped make this adjustment period any easier.

It was really good to see Agholor and Meyers step up in this game. Damien Harris also had a solid game with 71 yards and a TD. We needed guys to help shoulder the offensive load. And it happened in this game. Our offense was far from dominant but it did just enough to earn the win. I'll take it. Still a lot to work on, but maybe guys are starting to gel and work together now.

I can't believe Parker was out there for 54 snaps and was a non-factor. Bourne had multiple big plays (though a couple were taken away by ticky-tack penalties) on 22 snaps.
Huh? 2 catches for 16 yards are multiple big plays?

After the Mills INT, Patricia went into the next series Jonesin' for a long strike - wanted it on 1st down but dumped to Stevenson, then tried again on 3rd. The series was very forced, leading to the backatya pick.

Thanks, Gunner.

Thanks, Jakobi.

On Harris' injury later, I think I saw him hyper-extend slightly when his knee hit someone in the pile (Strange?). His foot wasn't planted so, fingers crossed, he'll be back soon.

Loved the power running to finish. OL seems to be coming together.

Mac is giving off James MacArthur in The Bedford Incident vibes. I don't know if the pressure is coming from the coaches or from within but he needs to just chill a bit.

Edit: Almost forgot, Judon going all Ellis Hobbs to break up that pass to Harris - fortunately no "faceguarding" ...
