For all the talk about BB not caring about September games... I think he really wants this one.
Important game. We go 0-1, we are now @Pitt vs Balt @GB. 1-3 or 0-4 definitely has to be in the back of your mind.

Jon Jones - Hill
Marcus Jones - Waddle
Mills - Gesicki?

I don't think Mills is fast enough to hang with either Hill or Waddle.

I know some think it should be Mills on Waddle but IMO it should be M Jones or Ja Jones. I don’t care that they are rooks…Waddle is just one year removed himself. These 2 can play Man coverage if needed.

Mills with McCourty's help could be on Waddle. I think Dugger or Phillips on Gesicki

Pre-season/Pre-Game Thoughts:

a.) Just got back from vacation and watched the Raiders pre-season finale last night for the first time. My impressions:

- On the Mac Jones interception, after playing the tape back several times, his first read was Agholor running deep along the sideline after being lined up in the slot and going under Parker. The Raiders' NT got a good push up the middle and got Mac off his spot. So, Mac was flushed to the right side...Bourne was running across the field and had to reverse directions to come back to the right side. Bourne was a lot more OPEN when looking at the coaches' view on replay than on the sideline TV camera (which showed like 4-5 Raiders in the vicinity of the ball). Mac threw a poor pass though...and looked like he never saw the linebacker reading his eyes. But could have hit Borune if the ball was thrown harder and maybe a bit higher...maybe. However, Mac did have Jonnu and Stevens wide open in the flat for an easy bail out dump pass though....

- On the Parker OPI call....what a WEAK call that was....that is a TD in my book. Sure...Parker had has hands on the defender's chest, but didn't even push off that much!

- Why didn't Damien Harris get any snaps? I forget?

- The Montgomery injury looked better than it sounded on this forum/in the media. Glad that he and Wynn made the trip down to Miami.

b.) Not too concerned about Tyreek Hill...I think Jon Jones is ready to roll. Am more concerned about Waddle/Gesicki/Wilson over the middle...in the flats...near the sidelines though. Can't wait to see if our linebackers have any more speed than last year... maybe drop some safeties near the LOS/Slot to cover these guys. I think we see a lot of big nickel....

c.) Offensively, I want to see us pounding the ball all day along...I don't care how screwed up our zone blocking is right now...just pound the ball and hit Henry/Smith for 4-6 yard gains all day, baby! I think if we do that....Agholor will break loose for 2-3 bombs this game to shift field position.

d.) Looking forward to seeing who our KR/PR's are....and who is gunner #2 behind Slater. Man, Slater is still fast....and still the first guy down....love that guy!!!

And apparently he's only wearing 25.9% of his pants.

That’s why posted it. I don’t care about his pass rushing ability.

I doubt the Pats will be playing much man against those 3. Probably will play a zone with a lot of safety help and jamming Gesicki at the line. I also think Myles Bryant is the starting slot corner, but it makes more sense to play a safety on a guy like Gesicki so I'd say

Jones- Hill
Waddle- Mills
Gesicki- Dugger

With heavy safety help from Phillips and McCourty on all those match ups.

Miami slapped them around week 17 last season and will do it again in the heat with a better team and better offensive scheme. They will also be forced to wear their all blues (thanks Bob). The board will freak out over how slow their D still looks.

Here it is: Hopefully, Hines will be the first to sub in if necessary.

The Pats have no control over what jerseys they will wear on the road. Miami as the home team gets to pick and they will undoubtedly pick (or have already picked) their white jerseys for obvious reasons.

I thought I made that very clear what you put in bold. Of course the road team doesn't pick.

What I meant was that Bob made all blues their primary uniforms, which will be even hotter in the Miami heat.

What else could he have chosen? The reds are equally as dark (or won’t make much of a difference). Same deal with the 90 powder blues

Have alternate pants like the Seahawks do. They wear sliver or white pants when going on the road to hot climates like Miami.

Half dark is better than all dark. Pats will be gassed in the heat and those uniforms won't help.

The silver pants didn’t help during the Brady era down in Miami though…

I wouldn’t count on that… while I’m excited for the prospect of Marcus Jones guarding guys like waddle in the future, I think the top 3 corners in snap count are simply going to be mills, jon jones, and bryant. I just think that’s where the depth chart stands right now and that’s what they’ll go with for game 1.
