Patriots Injury News JOEJUAN OUT FOR THE YEAR

If he moves on IR does he get the full year salary?

Prolly decided he wouldn't get any contract elsewhere, so took up IR?
That's where his choir boy intelligence comes in...what a waste of a pick to think who we could have had instead.

Williams didn't live up to the 2nd round pick, but he's not as terrible as people make him out to be. Situational he was OK, thought he did a good job against Mike Williams in the Chargers game.

What in the world tells you the injury isn’t season ending when it is reported as season ending, and how are you determining that he is faking it? Are you his doctor? Jesus
I am not. We did not hear about any reports stating that he got injured big time and we get the news of season ending IR just prior to roster cut downs.

They reported he is injured and out for the season Tuesday morning after a Thursday injury. Pretty much normal time for diagnosis and evaluation.
What incentive would the Patriots have to put him in IR instead of cutting him? There is none.

Caps off a disappointing Patriots career.

I don't know. Maybe they are trying to help out Joejuan by sending him to IR instead of cutting him right away . He could be injured , but is it season ending is the doubt I have.

Maybe he’s dead? Maybe he’s not injured at all?
When you dismiss the exact report on his injury which said HE WILL BE OUT FOR THE SEASON you can make up anything.
What “help” would the Patriots be giving him by making up the severity of his injury and putting him on IR to end his season, his last one under contract?

He sucks but corner becomes an even bigger need now.
I'm awed anyone thinks his injury affects the team's gameday needs.

Sucks for him. Hope he makes a full recovery...

That way he can catch on as a starter with another team next year, preferably one in our division.

I feel bad for the guy. Yeah, he was on the roster bubble...but you could see why the Pats' brass liked him...a big corner. I am just disappointed that it didn't work out here and hope he finds a new team in March.

That is a good question, but yes, he'd get paid.
Not like that.. prolly exaggerating a medium scale injury. Don't know how he suddenly picked season ending injury..
We know a common practice for teams is to exaggerate an injury so they can stash the player on IR instead of putting them on the practice squad or cut them. However, since this doesn't benefit the Pats, team doctors would let the Pats know if it is season ending or not. Regardless, Joejuan has played his last down in NE.

Yes, he will get paid pretty much either way. My guess is they put him on IR. At least this way the Pats might get a 7th round pick when some misguided team signs him next year thinking "hey he is a former 2nd round pick, lets sign him".

The other option would be to release him with an injury settlement.

Say he's out 4-6 weeks. They know he's not making the first 53 because they were ready to cut him anyway.

They have to IR him.

Of course. That doesn’t mean they are playing games, or doing him a favor. Or that he faked an injury so they could pay him instead of cutting him. That’s what the other poster implied, evidently because he thinks severe injuries require build up and advance notice.

I will also note that the report says he will miss the season. It didn’t say out 4-6 weeks or anything other than out for the season.

I will also point out the report didn’t say he was going on IR, it inky says his injury will cause him to miss the season.

This was Bill’s most unnecessary or idiotic draft pick of his career. Just a horrible use of resources.

When drafted this was the CB group:

Gilmore
McCourty
Jones
JC Jackson who showed promise in 2018.

WR and TE’s

Edelman
Worn down Demariyus Thomas (eventually traded)
The quitter Josh Gordon (eventually cut)
Phillip Dorset
Injury prone journeyman Bruce Ellington (eventually cut)
Maurice Harris (eventually cut)
N’Keal Harry

TE
Matt LaCosse
Ryan Izzo
There were still plenty of opportunities for the Pats to go wrong in Rd 2 even if they had drafted another WR instead of Joejuan. JJAW, Parris Campbell and Andy Isabella were all second rounders.

FWIW, I thought the Jordan Richards pick was even more unnecessary and idiotic than this one.

Bad pick.

Sorry he is injured.

He made $5.3m here. He'll be fine.

Time to give him his unconditional release so he can sign somewhere else and continue his career

It really doesn't change, he wasn't making the team anyway. All three Jones passed him up as did Mills, Mitchell, Butler and Wade. I wouldn't be surprised though if this position is the one that we add a player before the regular season.
Dare I hope BB can find a way to "pull a FastJuan on us" (I seem to be on a bit of a Patriots pun roll lately!)?
