Patriots Training Camp- Thursday August 4th

You gotta keep Bourne, Parker, Agholor, Thornton, and Meyers IMO. I think they probably carry Nixon too for 6. It's a lot of WRs, but Thornton is developing and Parker has durability concerns. Park Wilkerson on the PS and bring him up as/when necessary. Agholor will leave next year for a decent contract and Thornton will take over for him, and hopefully Nixon will be a bigger contributor. We'll see what happens with Meyers. Maybe he sticks around on a modest deal.
I think Kristian Wilkerson is making more noise than Trey Nixon at the moment...hope Nixon shows more. But Wilkerson have actual NFL game stats in his name you have to think he has the upper hand.

By "Y" receiver, are you thinking the "Edelman" type slot role?
Yeah. IMO Bourne should be there and would be even more productive then last year with Parker on the outside. Meyers can move the chains at WR2.

There is the potential for McDanie;ls to swipe Wilkerson and/or Nixon if you try to stash them.
I agree with you, though I think one of Agholor or Meyers could be traded to a QR needy team like AZ, Dallas, or Atlanta.
I don't like Wilkerson's hands. I'm ok with McD taking him. I think Nixon is the future at slot.

1st year playing with a QB who wouldn't throw him the ball if he was the only WR on the field,, 2d year with Cam Newton, 3rd year with a rookie QB trying to find his way. Again, all he's done is get better each and every year.

People say Meyers has "gotten better" each year, but has he REALLY?

While his targets have gone UP, his YPR has gone down. He had a better Catch rate with CAM throwing him the ball (72.8%) than Brady or Jones.
While he had 3 and 4 broken tackles in 2019& 2020, he had just 1 in 2021. His YAC has steadily dropped from 4.4 to 3.7 to 2.7. Also, the % of receptions going for 1st downs has dropped steadily from 65.4% to 62.7% to 51.2%.

He's an above average receiver, however, he seemed to cut off many of his routes short of where he should have been and then he was forced to rely on YAC to get the 1st down and it didn't work so well.

- This is what I'd like to see if there are no trades...
X = Meyers, Thornton
Y = Bourne, Meyers
Z = Parker, Agholor

- If Meyers is traded...
X = Agholor, Thornton
Y = Bourne, Nixon
Z = Parker, Thornton

- If Agholor is traded...
X = Meyers, Thornton
Y = Bourne, Nixon
Z = Parker, Meyers
Meyers as an X WR why??:confused: I think a X WR need to have speed like Agholor and Thornton. Meyers couldn't make a living in the NFL solely on the outside.

Some Jalen Mills love....he's turned out to be a really, really good f/a signing and has played very well for us.

Zuma my friend, I agree with you on Wilkerson, I think he's the odd man out here. After having a great t/c last year, when he got into joint practices and preseason games, he had a big case of the dropsies...that stuck with me....I'm much higher on Nixon now.

I thought Herron played well his 1st year with the team (I think on the left side) but then he tailed off some after. Maybe he is playing well with zone blocking. I was pulling for Cajuste but so far he hasn't lived up to the billing...maybe sitting out his 1st year with injury is the problem. I never heard of Hambright until we got him...he is playing well.
Herron had the sophomore slump for sure. He did start getting better towards the end of the season. Hopefully he truly has improved and can be a better than average swing tackle. Russey is kinda my binky. As is Marcus Jones. I'm hoping that Russey improves so that he can be the back-up center from day 1, but that is likely going to be with Ferentz.

I'm really hoping for Marcus Jones. I wanted the Pats to draft him (even pegged as a 3rd rounder) and was ecstatic when they did. Kid is a swiss army knife. He's done Punt returns, Kick Returns, played both Outside and Slot CB. and Has been a WR.. Kid is electric and has the chance to take it to the house whenever he touches the ball

*Ahem* can we see the Trey Nixon in some actual preseason games before we anoint him?? Wilkerson didn't drop any balls in real games and understand our Offense more than Harry. I'm not on the Nixon Train right now it seems like all hype.

We'll see. I'm looking forward to seeing him in joint practices and in games to see how he does.

That could also be because teams were running on the Pats in the second half of last year.
Could be a factor, but the fact that he only gave up 33% of completions directed at him is pretty impressive.

Those will be definitely telling and will separate some from the rest.

IMO Russey is the future at center and could possibly start sometime this season if we had veterans Thuney on one side and Mason on the other. But were a little young and inexperienced there now and Andrews is good.

Marcus Jones is going to be a fantastic PR and should be ready to start in the slot in 2023 if needed.

PFR would disagree that Wilkerson didn't have a drop.

Gotta see what Nixon can do in pre-season but he is trending pretty good IMO. RE Meyers...I see him as a Brandon Lloyd type at WR2. Just catch the ball and move the chains...we already have faster guys in Thornton and Agholor if needed. But I love Meyers' reliability at X with Parker on the other side and Bourne demolishing the slot this year.

Can't wait to see him too.

I think you're referring to Wilkerson, not Nixon, who caught the 2 TDs and has been learning the gunner position from Slater.
Correct I typed the wrong name.

I know he had some drops in his past but all I've heard from camp tweets is he has been catching a lot of balls (some deep ones also) and haven't seen his name of the list of drops.

I thought Wilkerson has been somewhat invisible in camp except for the last couple days where he made some great catches which IMO makes people think he is doing more then he actually is.
