OT: Watson to Brownies

I'm tired of the Pats being singled out in the media. They'll have a field day.
It's not like Kraft was caught with bags of money and drugs in his car and a dead girl in his home.
No but he was caught doing what he was doing and should be accountable to it right?

He's likely guilty of nothing much beyond being an obnoxious jerk of a customer and doesn't want to deal with the hassle of hearing that fact mentioned twenty separate times; so...
It’s kind of blind to think he isn’t guilty of more than that.

Maybe it's already happened or maybe it never will, but being happy that he "only" has to deal with four civil lawsuits now should be signal to Watson that he has/had a huge problem.

NFL still wants to suspend Watson for the year.

I think the NFLPA has a valid point in bringing up the way Goondell has treated sexual cases against the owners (who are to be held to a higher standard) than the players.

Goondell testifies today on Snyder. He's got his hands full explaining the slap on the wrist he handed to Snyder w/o even a written report.

Either that or he sees the practical aspect of serving his suspension now instead of next year. There’s a ~$45 million difference in salary on the line.
What happened to "I just want to clear my name"?

It seems to me getting out his checkbook quiets things down but doesn't clear his name.

The summation of the allegations:

The 22 active civil suits allege Watson forced two women to perform oral sex, ejaculated on three women and in front of three others, groped four women and kissed another woman unprompted upon arrival for a massage appointment. Eighteen of the 22 active suits accuse Watson of inappropriately touching women with his penis during massage therapy sessions.

You'd really use no stronger language than "obnoxious jerk" for someone who allegedly does this kind of stuff?

Personally, I think sexual predator fits the situation better. It's not like he's going to a whore house or even a strip club where sex is for sale. He's showing up in women's houses or legitimate places of business under the pretense of wanting a massage and using all his power to coerce them into sex. Your point of view doesn't make sense to me, unless you are so ill informed you think the goal of massage therapy is to provide sexual services.

i dont think ive ever read a finer piece of bullsħĭt than Goodells statement on why the NFL didnt want a written report... all of that word salad to replace a simple five (or six) word sentence... "Written reports will (eventually) get leaked."

We can only guess why Watson settled with 20 women instead of taking them to court. My guess is that he's as guilty as sin and has the money to pay for their silence.
Or it's worth it to make it all go away and make millions of more dollars than sitting out for 2 years

it also sounds better not quite as bad (relative, i know) in the media when they talk about his 4 accusers instead of his 24 accusers every day

Unfortunately thats just a dog and pony show so congress can say "we tried"

they cant compel him to answer their questions
Yes, a political circus to be sure.

Yet, anything to put a little heat on Snyder is fine in my book. He's well known to be a really petty kind of person. It'll really irk him that this is all going down. Maybe the wine and cheese on the yacht won't go down as smooth as he thought it would.

Well apparently there were written reports. Did Goodell commit perjury?

The memo states that the NFL received at least 16 briefings from Wilkinson's law firm on her findings between August 2020 and June 2021, including at least four written briefings, and that Goodell was "personally briefed" at least twice. Goodell said in his prepared remarks that "we did not receive a written report of Ms. Wilkinson's findings."

What's he going to do, plead the 5th?

1. Asked to appear before committee. He refuses.
2. Subpeona issued for his appearance.

If he refuses to answer questions, it's just a terrible look for him and the NFL. It looks like he's not cooperating and has a lot to hide.

This is great!
