It doesn't take much to derail any thread. This one is about Jones, which then brought Brady into the discussion and Belichick soon followed. It seems like a natural progression. Maybe there should be a Bill vs Tom thread. That might help keep that discussion in one place.

You're absolutely right, it doesn't take much. lol

We had a BB vs TB thread about two years ago and it didn't end up well, got carried over to other threads and forced Ian to create a separate TB forum. It's unfortunate it's gotten to this point where there has to be comparisons, but I guess it's natural comparing the GOAT QB and the GOAT Coach is inevitable. It's a shame when posters start disparaging both of their great accomplishments.

I think not being use to the cold is only a factor for players who play in warm cities. Sure Jones is from FL and played in AL, but he should get used to the cold by playing and practicing in it every day. People get acclimated to the climate they live in. It isn't like you are born with a gene or are totally conditioned to only be adaptable to the climate you were raised in.

It would be different if he was the Dolphins QB and had to travel to Foxboro, NJ, or Buffalo for games and not being acclimated to the cold.

Brady is a great cold weather QB because of his playing style and skill set. Not because he he can handle the cold better than others. Although being in a cold weather area made it easier for him to handle the cold. And I wonder if he is as good as he used to be in the cold now playing in Tampa. The only game I can remember him playing in the really cold since he moved to Tampa was against the Packers in the NFCCG and he had three INTs and only completed 55.6% of his passes in that game (he did have three TDs although one was an eight yard drive). Last year, he got the Jets in NJ in an unusually warm day in the mid 50s in December.

Definitely matters if you're not used to it. The Patriots have dealt a lot of punishment over the years to teams who weren't prepared for it. The 59-0 Titans game in the snow and blowing the doors off the soon to be NFC Champion Cardinals in December in 2008. On the flip side we've struggled in heat in Miami and altitude in Denver.

Looking for QB splits in the cold but can't find any that aren't paywalled. Got the impression Mac struggled when it got cold a lot more than when it wasn't.

If true, that might have just coincided with his struggles especially since he did struggle inside against the Colts (at least in the first half) and down in Miami. What it should have said is that the Cowboys are the best at drafting pro bowlers in SPITE of having JJ at the helm.

JJ was bent on drafting Johnny Manziel, and his own son literally ran up and snatched the draft card out of his hand. He was forced to draft Zack Martin instead.

They are both pocket passers with medium strength arms.

Excellent touch both of them, but more importantly, they make the right reads.

I'm not saying Mac is a HOFer or on par with these QBs but anyone who dismisses a QB based on athleticism and arm strength also dismisses 2 bonafide QBs like these two.

I didn't include Brady because Brady actually has a much stronger arm than Manning and Brees, though he lacks Brees' athleticism.

I think Mac got hurt in the Dallas game when Randy Gregory leveled him...

While his arm strength played a part, their predictability on offense I think was more of their downfall especially during the Michael Thomas/Alvin Kamara years. Teams would routinely slow down their best player and then Brees wouldn't know who else to throw to. In fact, every playoff loss looked the same with them looking shell-shocked how they suddenly couldn't move the ball like they were in the regular season. They'd be throwing their arms up in the air in frustration when their drives kept stalling.
