Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Sean Payton is out of the picture, Miami will not fire their brand new fancy coach baring an Urban Meyer level meltdown. So how that might changes Brady’s desire to go there who knows.
They would fire him to hire Payton.

It's as plain as the nose on Jimmy Durante's face that Brady was the key to the Pats and Bucs success.
It's hilarious that it's not the Patriots in 2008 just for good measure. This stat almost looks made up or massaged it's so ridiculous.

Bucs picked after midnight last year. They're five spots earlier -- for now -- so a little better. The 27 pick last year was at 11:32 p.m. ...

Didn't realize how late the draft goes. I'll be in bed with my headphones own. 50/50 whether I'll be snoring by the time they get to that part of the draft. I expect the Bucs to try and trade back if there's any takers.

If you listen to the noise, about 31 of 32 teams are looking to trade back.

From what I've read, the Bucs are looking to draft players that would make an impact this year for a SB run. They have an all in mentality in 2022 similar to 2020.

I think they learned from the 2021 draft where they were drafting with 1 eye looking towards the future. Their picks in the top 4 rounds were more developmental type players whom they hoped could be starters in 2022 and beyond. They mistakenly didn't count on injuries happening.

The Bucs injuries in 2021 largely torpedoed the Bucs SB run but if they had drafted for immediate impact players instead of developmental players, it might have been a different narrative.

Wirfs and Winfield were large contributors to the 2020 SB win. I don’t think the Bucs will forget that this time and will draft rookies that will help them win now.

Btw, that's what drove me nuts in the Pat's 2019 season. It was obvious to me that the dynasty was ending, and the biggest deficiency was at WR/TE but BB was too cheap to do anything serious about it. The rest of the team was SB caliber but on it's last leg as a unit.

But, for the Bucs, Brady year one had a team with holes, while Brady year two didn't. And Brady going from talking about wanting to play until he turns 175 years old to suddenly declaring retirement was obviously not in the plans of anyone but Brady.

Ok so what’s a great team with a real GM gonna do tomorrow I’m excited.

First pick in the second round. Don't be shocked if there's another trade down.

Yup Giants, Tennesse, and Seattle all need QBs and Seattle has a lot of seconds.

Very STRANGE that the Pat's and Bucs both passed on Devin Lloyd to eventual replace Hightower and David. Bucs also has no depth at LB.

It’s called a salary cap
Salary cap can be pushed back several years, and dealt with after a playoff run during a rebuild.

I'm a proponent of pushing back the salary cap when a team is SB caliber but older and filled with expensive veterans. The Rams and Bucs are those teams, and so was the 2019 Pat's (except not much was done to make the offence on that team better. They should have looked at making a blockbuster trade for a WR and TE. Or pay WR1 and TE1 money, instead of bargain bin hunting).

Rams and Bucs are designed to win Super Bowls in a 3-4 year window. So far, they have a combined total of only 2. That's the method of winning for desperate teams. If you want to build a long term winner you have to do it through the draft.

It’s really the method for every team over the past 20 years but the Pats with the Goat.

Possibly, but they also have several players to chose from at positions of need like Booth (CB), Dean (LB) and Mafe (DL). Also all of the TEs are available
