Boston talking heads this morning were talking about the new offensive minds of the NFL and they cited McDaniel and how he was tutored in both McVay's and Shanahan's system and that, by comparison, Belichick is stuck with his friends and sons while the game has passed him by.

Well, they are media and he is everything the media is trying to demonize.

Yeah, because there is no nepotism whatsoever involved in the careers of Shanahan or McVay....

Which Shanahan, Kyle or Mike?

Kyle. However, the difference between McVay and Shanahan is that they both made a name for themselves elsewhere and not with their Daddy.

Kyle Shanahan did indeed coach under his father with the Redskins. However, Gary Kubiak (his father's assistant coach at Denver) hired Shanahan prior to that to be the WR coach for the Texans

I would still consider this nepotism

And the McVays and the Grudens have a long history together, since John McVay and Jim Gruden worked together and became best buds, which led to Sean McVay's first two jobs being with Jon and then Jay Gruden. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way, he got hired by one of them straight out of college.
