I am a Patriots fan, 35 year season ticket holder.

I just don’t watch the games through tinted glasses.

What does that have to do with you standing behind your awful understanding of football and accepting a bet to back it up?

A “fan” who dies nothing but bltch isn’t much of a fan in my book.

What matters is points scored. A team is NOT, is NOT worse because WR's don't meet your standards. What matters is that we were #7 in scoring.

But this is not the argument. When someone say's a particular unit on the team is weak, you don't come back and say "we'll the rest of the defense or offense is good".

I think you misunderstand.

No one is saying that at all.

What I am saying is people trashing the receivers are wrong, and the proof of that are the results on the field.
It is impossible to have a top 10 offense (at least) with a rookie Qb, and sporadic OL issues if your receivers suck.

It’s not really an argument about whether that viewpoint is valid, it’s proof that it isn’t.

Only koolaid drinkers of Patsfans get upset, for calling Michael Hoo-Man a JAG.

I would never get upset if someone called a career backup a Jag, but a koolaid drinker would defend almost any Patriot.

For some, the idea is to score more points than the other team.

Points can be scored in the passing game, the running game, or by special teams.

The patriots were balanced in 2021: 24 TD by the running game, 24 by the passing game.

Contrary to what you and another poster believe, you Do NOT get more points if a WR scores than when a TE or RB catches a pass.

I have exactly ZERO interest in being in the top 7 in TD's by WR's. I want to score more points than the other team. In the passing game, I am 100% fine with catches by anyone on the team.

The patriots were #7 in points scored. If we achieve this again, we are likely to be in the playoffs. Our offense is likely to be better, even with the SAME WR's, TE's and RB's and QB's as last year. Playing together for their second year is UNLIKELY to make them worse at scoring. Also, we added White, and will likely ADD a WR or two (without losing anyone but Harry).

Now if the WRs were better, the team would score more points. It also would if the Qb, OL, RB,TE were also.
Given that 4 of the top 5 targets weee to new to the team and playing with a rookie QB it’s pretty reasonable to expect that part of the offense will be improved this year by being together for a second year without additions. Improving from what the offense was last year (6th in scoring) will have this team capable of going far.
Will the G, DE, LB,CB positions be better than last year with no additions?
Shouldn’t we be focussed on improving those areas more than WR?
Unfortunately many fans think flashy plays make winning teams rather than winning in the trenches.
