Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I think Bill has 3 seasons left max. Sooner if Mac doesn’t pan out and Kraft doesn’t see any progress in the rebuild. Wouldn’t it be something if Brady outlasts Bill.
I am not sure he has that long honestly. Look at our coaching staff? What a disaster. I think if we don't make headway this year and Mac regresses at all given the terrible coaching and lack of talent given we are not spending anything in FA then Bill is probably gone seasons end.

BTW, I fully expect Brady to outlast Bill as Pats HC.

It won't be as bad as it looks imo but making the playoffs would be the top end of what they can do this year. If they had kept Brady they may of had another bad 2020 (I think they still win the division) but they would be back in contention by now. It is what it is.

I really have no idea what Bill is doing. He blew the wad last year when the FA class was weak and saved nothing for this year when the FA class is strong. His coaches could not get out of here fast enough and his solution is Joe Judge and Patricia?? I mean what a mess. If this was "going to be the plan" post Brady thank God Kraft stepped in 2017 otherwise no 6th ring and basement dwellers at this point.

I give him 3 years with Mac before we can fairly judge him post Brady. Post seaon appearance with a rookie QB is a good accomplishment. Let's see how the draft goes. We should stop comparing this era with the Brady one because that will never happen again

Some coaches get 2-3 years and the guy who's supposed to be the best gets 4 to win a single playoff game? Just weird how things work depending which side you are on.

To me it is not so much about the end results but about the philosophy. His team building is head scratching in today's league and that was true with Brady as well the last several years. He keeps hanging on to retreads while letting quality talent walk. It's like he has no idea that QBs like Mahomes, Allen and Burrow exist. He might be the most anti-QB HC of all time.

I'm not sure giving 20 mil to a 2nd tier WR would help the team overall but I'm not a GM. Our GM ruined the team when he let our franchises QB walk over an extra year guarantee after jerking him off for 3 years on contract talks. At this point I'm not sure they could do anything to help Jones enough to win a title. If Jones develops then they can make a run next year and be in a better spot. The NFL is a funny place though and with injuries and upsets you never know what will happen.

It would have been better to not make the playoffs, not spend so much money on free agents, get the higher draft pick, and do a rebuild to be a powerhouse again in a couple years.

Isn't the whole point for the Patriots is to win a SB, not just to squeeck into a playoff spot?

Rebuild should have been done the year Brady left and should have been for 2 or 3 years.

Kraft expects to contend this year. He's not happy w/ no playoff wins in 3 years.

The real problem is they wasted money on players who didn't contribute.

If we hadn't signed Agholor and Jonnu Smith would our record have been any different last year?

Kraft is going to regret choosing Bill over Brady until the day he dies. He could have likely had a trio of Brady/Bill O Brian/Nick Caserio which would not only be great for the short term but set up long term stability. Instead he gets a good but not great rookie QB, a 70 year old Belichick, and the worst assistant coaching staff in the history of the league.

If he's bothered by a 3 year drought, he might want to line up a shrink for after this season.

Just in case....

He’s apparently on board with Matt Patricia as the heir apparent so time to put him out to pasture frankly.

I would say that the Bucs have a clear successor to JPP in Tryon-Shoyinka, and right now they don’t with Suh or Gronkowski. I don’t expect JPP back with the Bucs.
