Gronk hasn't signed yet, so the thread title is a little optimistic, but it's time, so here we go.

Sources: The #Seahawks are in agreement on a 1-year deal with one of their own — RB Rashaad Penny. The former first-rounder turned down more money elsewhere to build off his stellar second half of 2021. He gets $5.75M with ability to earn up to $6.5M.

I'm sure Fournette is looking at this deal when he's deciding what he's willing to play for.

Bucs have slowed down in free agency -- agreed to terms with safety Logan Ryan on Friday morning, but nothing in 48 hours since. They still have Gronkowski, Fournette, Suh, Gholston, Pierre-Paul to decide on, along with Gabbert, Ronald Jones and nine other unsigned free agents.

Free agency doesn't always go quickly. Bucs had only five total re-signings in first week of free agency last year. Leonard Fournette didn't re-sign with Bucs until two weeks after start of free agency. Ndamukong Suh five days after that. Gio Bernard didn't sign until April 14.

Bucs still have 16 unsigned free agents, yes, but it's worth mentioning that 9 of them counted less than $1 million against the cap last year: Bernard, Wells, McLendon, O'Connor, Triner, Minter, Adams, Desir, Riley. And Sherman only counted $1.12 million. Very little cap impact.

So that leaves seven other Bucs free agents, or their replacements (through signings or draft): Pierre-Paul, Gronkowski, Fournette, Suh, Gholston, Gabbert and Ronald Jones. If Bucs handle contracts like last year, all but likely JPP would have cap numbers under $4 million.

If Bucs structure contracts to keep first-year cap numbers low as they did last year, they could bring back Gronk, Fournette, Suh, Gholston for about $10 million in cap space. Still plenty of room for depth signings at/near veteran minimum, though some might not make final cut.

We don't know exactly how much cap space the Bucs have -- don't have all the details on Stinnie, Perriman contracts, plus what Logan Ryan will sign for. Spotrac has them with $14.6 million. OTC, once it accounts for Godwin, will be close to that figure.

In the least, it’ll be a battle in camp between Succop and Jose Borregales, who spent last year on the practice squad. If they need cap space bad enough, they could move on from Succop entirely.

Harris final rookie contract season is this year. Could be leverage against him especially if he shows again he can't stay healthy. That would be too bad cause I think Harris could be a great one.

Chris Godwin doesn't have a timetable for his return from his ACL injury. “I don’t have one in mind quite yet,'' he said. "This is my first time ever going through this. I’m not really sure what those kind of time lines look like. I’m not really sure...

"I’m just kind of taking it one day at a time. It’s a long process and I think projecting far in the future, it can be a bit daunting. I’m trying to keep my positivity and trying to enjoy where I’m at know and enjoying the little victories."

Jason Licht says they would love to have Leonard Fournette back but talks continue.

Jason Licht, when asked if there's a chance Playoff Lenny could be back: "I'd say we'll continue talks with a lot of our players and we'll do the best we can, and we'd love to have Leonard back."

From NFL Now: The #Colts have emerged as the likely landing spot for #Falcons QB Matt Ryan, and the two sides are in talks. If Ryan is traded, it’ll almost certainly be Indy. But nothing is done as of now.

The two sides have made progress on a deal. Nothing done. But a big few hours loom.

End of 2019, Jameis Winston was a five-year starter in Tampa and the least entrenched QB in the NFC South. Today, Tom Brady is entering his third year and is the longest tenured starting QB (with his team) in the division.
