I’m just spitballing here which I’m prone to do, but could the Patriots no longer having any interest in Collins be because he flunked a physical with the Pats scuttling a trade. He’s had multiple injury issues. To their credit, the Pats would not let on he flunked a physical as to not hurt his market value.

how many QBs drafted started in their 1st or 2nd year.......let's just say since 1990.....at least 100?....since 1990 6 have made it to the SB in year2 (we'll eliminate pre salary cap marino from the conversation and add in burrow) .....those are not good odds

It could be that the cap hit would have come all this year without an extension, so that's a big problem. And the player might've been unwilling to play ball.
