It's easy, and only takes a few moments. It’s the era of change everything whether it’s a good idea or not.The only thing is they already tried this DST permanent thing in the 70s and apparently everyone hated it so much that it didn’t last long. Like maybe a year or two. People didn’t like kids going to school in the dark all year.

I mean, I agree, but I’m just saying this could well prove another unpopular attempt. I didn’t realize they had already tried this in the 70s, probably because I was a toddler then.Straight time is for farmers and the like, because their days are determined by sunlight and animals. Adjusted time is better for urban centers and most modern jobs. Not locking in to one time leads to a week or two of inconvenience and fatigue, but brings months of better aligned sunlight.

It is explained very clearly in the linked article.I don't see how having the sun come up at 4:30 in the morning is good for sleep.
Honestly Minnesota is far enough north that we are pretty well screwed no matter which time you pick.
You either have 9pm sundown or 4:30am sun up in the summer
And in the winter you either get 9am sun up or 4:30 sun down.
Interesting read... apparently we tried permanent daylight savings time back in the 70's... i don't remember this, but apparently it happened...
The US Tried Permanent Daylight Saving Time in the ’70s. People Hated It - Washingtonian
The sun rose at 8:27 AM on January 7, 1974. Children in the Washington area had left for school in the dark that morning, thanks to a new national experiment during a wrenching energy crisis: most of the US went to year-round daylight saving time beginning on January 6. "It was jet black"...www.washingtonian.com
