Why? You take a week or two to adjust, then you have good light for 6 months.

I think the fact of it being a cartoon image was part of what made the team lovable and endearing, and why ownership should have doubled down on it instead of committing suicide. Since the 70's they've been one of the biggest spenders in baseball, but the Red Sox still retained their small town Boston roots, and it's made them loved the way old timers still love the Pats.

We harp on the bad times more than the good, but that's just human nature.

I dont think Pat Patriot being a cartoon was the major stumbling block... it's claimed that the level of detail of the logo made it more difficult to reproduce - ie. it costed more and Sullivan was a cheapskate ... but the logo they were going to replace Pat Patriot with was ghastly, and thats the one i was referring to...
