Jones Should Be Greatly Improved In 2022

I think trading back this year is a good idea...but no speedy LB's? Are you counting on the youngsters on the team to provide that? Their are several that will be healthy and should step-up.

I'd love some new, young, fast LBs too... But we have very few draft picks, and we at least have some numbers here at that position already; whereas there are very few if any numbers at Outside CB, Nose Tackle, pass-rushing DE, WR (Outside preferably but also Slot) & LT... And with no money for UFA solutions, our only help will be coming from the draft and Especially the Undrafted marketplace, where Bill needs to be Extremely Fuc-king Aggressive...

Just based on getting Macs body closer to what you would expect of a professional athlete should improve him substantially from year 1-2. I have to say i'm pretty shocked at how bad his physical fitness seemed. I'm not sure how you look that doughy playing college ball.

Why does Cousins get so much hate? he's been quite productive and consistent over his last 7 seasons. His last 4 with MIN have been absolutely solid franchise starter/pro bowl material. In fact, this years stats were super close to Rogers, without the wins. Yet, most people speak of him as a Mayfield-type, someone that is mediocre and holds the team back. Even when people suggest Mac's ceiling is "like Cousins"- that could be a great thing with a well balanced team! We'll see what O'Connell does with him this year. As for Mac, this offensive coaching disaster with the Pats can't be positive. Who knew I'd end up praying BOB returns!?

If a QB doesn't constantly improve each and every year for several years, he'll never be truly one of the greats. I know almost no one who didn't improve. Maybe Marino?

Peyton Manning came in more ready than anyone to play the position, but even he improved well into his career.

Who is considered great and didn't really improve much.

Again, I think only Marino even slides into that category. Favre was an interception machine early on.

If people are satisfied with Burrow now, he's not really going to be a great QB. The idea is that Burrow will improve, and he should.

For toughness, guts and accuracy, I still prefer Herbert.

Just listening to sports radio from outside New England and reading Twitter, it is surprising to me that Mac Jones is such a punchline. If you mention Mac Jones, the announcers just laugh and ridicule the guy. Even people like Wiggins on Boston radio ridicule him. Keyshawn. You can say ignore these people, but I really really don't remember a rookie being given a smaller chance of succeeding after starting an entire year.

It's incredible.

If Mac Jones pays attention to these slights (and he should) he definitely has a lot of bulletin board material. Most of the football world thinks you suck.

The thing people are ignoring is that it's just as likely that the team and McCorkle improve, as teams now have sufficient film on him to properly defend him and take away his strengths. I don't think it's a coincidence that he hit a wall since the bye. Teams were flat out stating how they were going to play him and what they were going to force him to do (of course we all took it as bulletin material). He wasn't able to overcome those strategies. There's a sense that McCorkle can't make all the throws, so teams are going to force him to try to make those throws. Also, Josh/Bill's unwillingness to let him air it out during the game at Buffalo didn't help those impressions. Right, wrong or indifferent, there may be a perception that McCorkle has a low ceiling. It'll take a lot of offseason work for him to improve on some of those throws. The uncertainty with the offensive coaching situation won't help. Hopefully, he can prove them wrong.

It's the same crap that used to be said about Brady. Mac is the system QB for a new generation.

Guys who over-emphasize athleticism will always hate on guys like Brady and Mac. IIWII

The same can be said of Joe Burrow and every other QB they are slobbering after. They'll have you believe that the NFL has no clue how to stop Josh Allen from running the ball. It's crazy.

Josh Allen got the same treatment after his rookie year

Brady ended his first season as a starter with a Super Bowl title and MVP so I don't think the comparison holds up. Second season he led the NFL in TD's and then he won another Super Bowl title and MVP in his third season. After his fourth season he had his third ring and a dynasty was born. Anyone calling Brady a system quarterback at any point of his young career, while winning 3 of 4 Super Bowls for a franchise that was previously 0-40, had their head up their a**.

Mac Jones on the other hand may be taking some unfair criticism but he hasn't necessarily proven anyone wrong. Yet.

Keyshawn Johnson is ripping Mac Jones today.

A guy that cries publicly when his mediocre QB gets injured should never rip Mac Jones.

That was Terrell Owens.

You, like a number of posters, equate a body builder physique with a quarterback's athletic talent. The evidence contradicting this position is monumental.

Rick Mirer, selected number two in the first round after Drew Bledsoe, set the NFL record for a rookie for attempts, completions, and yardage and shared the 1993 offensive rookie of the year honors with Jerome Bettis. He didn't improve, but actually regressed.

Wow.Blast from the past. Mirer was under seige and became a turnover machine, which further supports my stance on our line. Give Mac a stronger line before worrying about getting a deep receiver.

Yeah, Mac Jones, a guy who won a national title and set college passing records while doing it, is someone to ridicule. I never listen to sports talk and that is one of the reasons.

Jermaine Wiggins as a radio "personality" is a clown, never to be taken seriously. How that goofball managed to finagle a lasting job in broadcast media is a mystery for the ages.

Mac Jones' first year is very comparable statistically to Josh Allen's second year. Allen's breakout year was year 3. By an amazing coincidence, that was the year Buffalo brought in a true #1 WR in Stefon Diggs.

I have no doubt Jones can rise to that level with real talent to throw to. What scares me in NE's ability to get that talent.

Right, but I'm asking who is a great QB that was almost fully formed. Think about the top 25 QBs of the last 40 years.

I can only think that Marino was as good as he was first 2 years as he was 10 years later. Even Peyton improved.
