Semi OT: Flores suing NFL and NYG. Texts from Bill involved in the suit.

Flores could be suggesting that Ross was trying to force him to do things that Ross would never ask a white coach to do. Seems a hard argument to make, though. An owner like Ross thinks he ought to be able to tell ANYBODY to jump and only hear back "how high?"
Yea i'm not buying that one if that's his angle. Ross has a AA GM and hired a AA HC.

Ross may be a slime ball and a ****ty owner but not a racist (at least from a hiring standpoint)

Well damn. I would have liked Flores back in New England, but he probably won't be coaching anywhere now.
I think he won’t be HC. He might need a safe place to be a coordinator for a while.

at some point the 32 becomes the 31, though......if an owner bet on a game and it messed with the integrity of the game, watch how quickly they get cut out of the circle

this really isn't that far away from that......the giants hire thing is really just saying "the rooney rule is a joke" because, well, it is.......it's the same reason jerod mayo got interviews right now.......but the miami/ross/tank piece is huge if they can get corroboration, etc........and there's lots of ways to connect those dots
Yes, but that's a huge IF, and the NFL just paid St Louis almost a billion dollars because Jerrah pushed the LA deal through with no one reading the NFL's own rules and the owners were PISSED that they might have to go through discovery.

Basically the NFL will sick their flesh-eating lawyers on Flores, limit the NFL's damage as much as they can while they inflict as much as they can on Flores, and in the end pay him off to make it all go away. They'll drag it out for months doing whatever they can do to weaken Flores (who won't be getting paid) and his case.

We already know a $billion is nothing to the NFL.

We've seen this play out so many times in the past.

This is why I posted Flores is gonna get paid!

Racial differences in SAT scores>>>the tests are racist!
Racial differences in combine activities>>>but of course!

Seems legit

Is the NFL Combine a good predictor of player achievement? How did TB12 look back then?

I think the whole paying to tank makes it worse. Like the game is rigged.

We know teams intentionally tank. The colts clearly tanked for luck. Putting the worst players out there.

Yeah, this is the most substantive story. Every gambling organization, every gambler, every state that gets tax revenues from gambling that are now threatened by a lack of integrity in the entire NFL, the federal government antitrust division...the list of legitimately aggrieved parties is long.

Nothings happening to the giants lol

Mara is NFL royalty. You could argue that the "Shield" is the Mara and Rooney families. The Giants are bullet proof. But Stephen Ross is not. He's a newer owner. The fact the league is sweeping everything under the rug already is just an invitation to dig more. The part that is equally as big is that Ross wanted to throw games. I could see some angry gamblers and or the gaming industry trying to dust up something against Ross.

Can't wait to see the Commissioner's press conference next week:

Media: "Commissioner Goodell, with respect to Coach Flores' lawsuit, do you feel..."
Goodell: "oh, wait, we have a question from Jenny over there who won the 'ask a question' bubble gum contest"
Jenny: "Commissioner Goodell, what's your favorite color?"

Huh?

Maybe he went to Ross with this info and Ross told him to roll the dice.

No I didn't. The racist issue is with the Giants. I said I had no idea why Flores introduced the Fins tanking in the suit.

I don't know if it is. The focus seems to be on the Giants.

OK
Typo “tanking” issue has nothing to do with racism.

There is no way Ross would do that.

It’s actually a class action suit against the NFL for racist hiring practices.
I would assume they are going to try to say Ross only hired a black coach because he wanted to tank and didn’t want a white man to get saddled with the losses.

As far as the Giants, it’s really pretty ludicrous to call what they did racist.

??? What are you even talking about, have you lost your mind?

I can't believe someone here seriously believes Flores doesn't have the clearly established better credentials. This is insane.

Let is go by, like a fart in the wind. It is clickbait, troll content meant to be a distraction and to serve as an outlet for generalized anger.

Because it has two sensitive issues that the league wants to avoid. Racism and Gambling/Tanking. The Dolphins attempted to intentionally alter the outcome of their games and offered money to the coach to carry out this plan.

Then again, coming from the same crack staff that investigated Ray Rice and after about 30 minutes decided on a 2 game suspension nothing would surprise me. Nothing to see here...

Because that's how defendants typically respond to a lawsuit, Peter.

Never underestimate Peter King's ability to jump on an issue in pursuit of pats on the back for being an enlightened, woke old white guy. **** Peter King.

And **** the NFL for being the 32.

The racism claim is weak, but I still want Flores to take over for BB.

It was none of that. It was a point about the value, or lack thereof, of "credentials" as a basis for hiring NFL coaches. But thanks for playing.

Still nothing wrong with what BB texted, he wasn’t breaking any rules.

Ross is in trouble, as are the Giants.
I don't see why the Giants are in trouble, they didn't do anything wrong. They were conforming to the Rooney Rule which forces teams to conduct sham interviews.

I've always found it interesting how "The Shield" founders of Art Rooney and Tim Mara were the biggest degenerate gambler-owners in NFL history

It all depends on how BB knew it. I'm on hiring committees all the time. We know to conduct the entire process. Precisely for situations like this. if you invite a candidate, you can't give the job to someone else prior to the conclusion of the process. This is basic stuff. We don't even do evaluations or talk about our preferences until the appointed time. The most we do is say, "They were great, fantastic!" Sure you glean stuff from that, but you don't give the job
Exactly. This is entry-level competence in hiring. Nobody talks to anyone until all the candidates have been through the entire process, and then the conversation that is had is highly structured and facilitated. Absolutely the most basic procedural discipline.
