Tom Brady Retires (Update: Shouts out to Pats players, coaches on social media)

Brady is being very quiet on this for now, so I am going to wait for him to officially announce it before I believe it ! If true it will be so weird to have a Sunday without him playing . I just hope he retires a Patriot, for two years I felt like Tampa was just borrowing him and now they need to return him to us .

I never ever blame the wife because it’s such a tired dumb old trope for all of history and people who actually know what they’re talking about have reported how over the past 15 heard Giselle has been extremely supportive of Brady’s career and indeed helped inspire him to play hardball over it. BUT in this case I think this might finally be true. Schefter and Darlington would only run a story like this so confidently with THE most ironclad info. And if it’s not Tom who else has that authority?

And to whom else is a $20m signing bonus merely..... pocket change?

Here's my theory on what happened:

1) Brady decided to retire, but does not want to make it official at this time.
2) He informs senior Buccaneer management (owner, GM, HC) so they can prepare for moving forward without him, which is the right thing for him to do.
3) Senior Buc management informs miscellaneous underlings (scouts, assistant coaches, etc) since they are part of preparing for 2022 and need to know these things.
4) An underling leaks it to the press.
5) Since the timing it not yet right, all parties deny a decision has been made (even though it has).

I wonder if Rob Parker hacked Mac10/TommyBrady12 account.
Pretty pathetic that on a Tom Brady retirement thread, the greatest player in league and franchise history, Little Timmy and Tune have to come in here and sh*t all over it.

Football is going to be a lot less fun next year without Tom to root for. If that team was healthy I think they repeat.
Pats have a promising rookie QB but it's highly unlikely they are ready to contend next year. No truly exciting playmakers that I love to watch on offense either. Sundays are going to be a bit boring next year. Up until a week ago I just assumed he would be back next year to win another one

If Yoko finally badgered him into retiring I think she is going to regret it. He is too competitive. He will resent her and probably be miserable to be around. It will not be good for their marriage.
If it was his decision, good for him. After everything he did for this team, everything he sacrificed I can only be happy for him and hope it works out for him.

This is 100% ESPN right?
Same as ever.

Later the haters will blame 12 for it all.

**
Plot twist:
My money is on Gisele being behind this leak to prevent him from backtracking or changing his mind down the road once his body fully heals and he's got plenty of time...

And he gets that itch...

And he gets that itch...
and a call from Mr Kraft

*
Tabloid cash for the separation..
international psycho superdrama
Superman and Superwoman?
This would be worth
> Billion?
Seriously.
*

So Later Gisele in fact does make an extra Billion,
Brady wins more SB in NE

Everyone will say
"They Planned it All"

But They didnt

I Did.
Heh

Brady is synonymous with the Buccaneers and every one of their moves.

Nonsense.

They were worthless before him and will be worthless after him.

Wow, that doesn't say much for the organization you claim Brady was synonymous with. What happens to your Bucs gear/memorabilia -- is that disposable too?

If they kept him. They would be left with their shemenzer in their hands.

They were left with their shemenzer in their hands in 2020, they let Brady go with zero plan. It was embarrasing

They could have competed for a SB in 2021 with Brady.

So has your only experience as a football fan been as a fan of a Brady team?

A lot of people are in this position, & that's okay, it just means you're not that old. That's being half a fan, and it is by far the funner half. The other half is hanging with the team, even if grumbling, looking for progress, growth, etc., even when seasons do end disappointingly -- even when seasons begin without apparent promise. By the way, the fact that it's divided up half and half like this is because this is a Pats forum... some teams, all you have is proudly suffering through bad teams for decade after decade. I don't wish that on anybody except Jets fans.

It's way better, I agree, to go into a season as a good bet to win it all, and way more fun as a fan. It's great to be packed to the gills with weapons nobody has answers for etc. etc. etc. It was superb, for nearly 2 decades, to always be a threat, because Brady would make us a threat. Yep he is gone. I like the next guy up. They hit a home run, getting a kid that can compete as a rookie, and he did that. So it'll be fun watching him develop, and watching the team fill out, and so on.,

It was great watching those years when we were just the odds-on favorite almost any given season... it was even sweeter watching different layers of football wishes come true after spending some years where we went without. Being well fed is absolutely preferable to hungry. But I bet your first ever (your favorite dish here) would be better if you'd subsisted in gruel up to then. On the other hand, there is a limit. kindly GIs during the liberation of camps in Europe realized in horror that the Hershey bars they were giving to starving prisoners were too rich for some of them and caused them serious medical issues, That's what a SB would be like to a JETE fan.

Funny how the Bradyites just show up on the main board for the first time all season when Brady retires...

The BB/Mac Jones bashing has come with them. They can't help themselves even with it being even more ridiculous with Brady retired. The ones who said they're done with the NFL when Tom leaves -- and more than one made that claim -- are lying hypocrites. Bitter, lost and wandering, their circle-jerk party suddenly over, they've dropped the Buccaneers like a hot potato.

They weren't going to compete for anything. And brady knew it.

And I don’t think Tampa is going to compete next year regardless.

Been a fan since 1986. I still remember the night of the SuperBowl. Not because of the game, but because it was the only time I have seen my dad cry, or be drunk.
I remember 91 when we won one game. The highlight of the year was a kickoff or punt return, I forget which.
I'll still watch all the games and root for them to win. But I've been spoiled by all the winning. We are rebuilding. I'm fine with that. Figured it would happen much sooner but it turned out our GOAT QB was a space alien. It would be nice if we had some playmakers that were fun to watch. Like Curtis Martin, Ty Law back in the early days. Terry Glenn when they became a contender. Hell, even Ben Coates at the end of his time here. Bledsoe had that exciting cannon in the beginning and a #1 pick pedegree. Mac is solid, but he's no early Drew. The team was just kind of boring on offense last year.
Even when the Celtics were awful and lost 19 straight I still had Pierce (one of my favorite Celtics players ever) to root for.

And I don’t think Tampa is going to compete next year regardless.
That team still has a lot of talent if they can stay healthy. With an above average QB they could be in the mix. It's not like there is a dominant team out there right now. KC and Green Bay were wildly overrated all year, supposedly the two best. And the Bills are soft.

Worthless? They won a SuperBowl in the early 2000s. How many teams can say that.

I'm a fan of both BB and TB and will say I agree, it will be weird. Looked at my DVR and it has a copy of last week's game on it, and it made me think: I watched that entire game and didn't once say to myself this guy is playing his last NFL game. Yeah, I had heard the murmurs but gave them next to no credence. like less than 1 in a thousand odds, and didn't give it a second thought while the game was on.

I just hope he retires a Patriot, for two years I felt like Tampa was just borrowing him and now they need to return him to us .
Wish I could agree with this, but I can't. The reasons behind him leaving were complex, but he did become a FA as he was entitled to do and he did leave. Tampa put the best offer on the table and got his commitment, he justified their commitment and earned his pay. He will always be a part of Tampa's legacy too.

We kept it boring. You know that. Same for TB in year 1... until Drew said (sic) "Get out there and sling it."

And Joe Montana's KC legacy will always be remembered. Come on.

Of course, TFB went to Tampa and got them a trophy,... sorta different, I guess.

SO HERE IS A LIVE GRENADE AND A STOOPIT ONE AT THAT. Let me stipulate, it will never happen.. .but then again, never say never. Anyhoo. Pretend it's a possibility on the table. Let's hear it:

Suddenly, right after the Super Bowl, Brady surprise-announces, it's not so simple. He goes golfing with Bill Belichick.

TFB tells BB he wants the 1-year retirement tour. He will play for league minimum. To hell with it, he gets that fat void year in 2023 anyway, play cheap in '22. He will take whatever personnel they can afford to lure to Foxboro. Gronk, of course, has a "property of Tom Brady" t-shirt so he'll come too.

Anyway that void year stuff was to SOUND like there's some way this can happen for the live grenade value.

Do you WANT BB to take the deal?

Or do you want BB to say "Tommy, we love you, but we've moved on. Mac needs to develop. You can be a QBs coach any time."

BEGIN!
