OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Important to note that AB also didn’t play in the earlier matchup. So when Gronk went out as well everything went to s.hit.

I agree. I think the Patriots are really going to struggle next season because this off season is going to be the true rebuild where they lose a lot of their aging veterans and have to rebuild through the draft.

In terms of Mac, I honestly don't see anything special in that guy. I know he is supposed to be really smart and I give him credit for picking up our offense but I didn't see some uber smart QB out there all season. His physical tools are a real concern so hopefully he works on that which will help his game significantly I think. But the team overall has so many holes and needs a completely new defense that it is going to be a challenge for them probably the next couple of seasons.

I also found an interesting that when Bill was asked if he would be coming back next season he didn't simply say yes. He said that would be an accurate statement. So I wonder if he was leaving some wiggle room because perhaps he is going to go upstairs and not be coaching. It's hard to tell but they definitely need to shake up the coaching staff in general and get some assistants with some experience.
The Pats play a pretty difficult schedule next year, though the NFCN only really has GB. The Pats have the Packers, the AFCN plus LV and Indy.

It's a little early for a call on Mac but I think he could be a reliable QB. Only time will tell.

I'm mad at Bill, or as my mother would say, I'm mad on Bill.

And speaking of Bill, I see that his playoff record dropped below .500 without TB12, who went to 5-0 in the playoffs since being dumped by Bill.

The Bills have beaten the Patriots 4 times in two years to the tune of 2 division titles and a wild card blow out win. Brady only lost to the Bills 3 times in 20 years. All of this gives me a good chuckle. Heck, even Tua has 3 straight wins over the Pats.

The playoff record is pretty delicious. He is now 1-2 without Brady while Tom is 5-0. LOL

He has one playoff win without Brady in 9 seasons.

Arians has one playoff win without Brady in 7 seasons.

Bill has 3 winning seasons out of those 9, with 2 playoff appearances.

Arians has 4 winning seasons out of those 7, with 2 playoff appearances.

Worst season for Arians, 7-9. The other two seasons where he didn’t make the playoffs, 7-8 and 8-8.

Bill’s losing seasons: 5-11, 5-11, 6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 7-9.

Arians record without Brady: 65-43
Bill’s record without Brady: 72-80

I’m not arguing that Arians is a better coach, i’m arguing if Arians had 20 years of Brady and Bill didn’t, Arians would be considered the GOAT coach and Bill would be a footnote in NFL history due to his DC contributions for the Giants.

What a coincidence that BB and Arians' records as head coaches are similar without Brady. Arians has the edge.

Another coincidence, their records are similar with Brady. Again Arians has the edge.

It won't only be Brady connected to BB.

Now Arians will as well as his records will be compared to BB. Especially if Brady plays 1 or 2 more years with Arians.

Not thrilled at the idea of Aaron Donald or Von Miller lining up against an injured OL but we'll see what happens.

As for Bill I'm not convinced he will still be the HC of this team by the time the Patriots are really ready to compete again. He said he doesn't want to coach into his 70's and there's no reason not to believe him. He had a reason for saying that and I'm sure that reason didn't just magically disappear. I really don't think he wants to stick around for that much longer as HC and if Mac is the real deal and using the rise of the Buffalo Bills to a powerhouse as the timeframe, we should be ready for another title run by the 2024 season. Not sure who the heir to Bill should be but it's not like the Patriots won't have anyone to choose from.

Bill would have been gone maybe after 2002 but definitely after 2003. Then that would make him a two time failed coach.

Would probably still have a great career ahead of him as a DC and I'm sure he'd probably win a ring or two on some coaching staff.

Which makes his decision to not lock Brady up more baffling.

If Bill only has 1 or 2 years left that would have perfectly matched with Brady. They could have retired together

With Jones, it's all about getting more arm strength. If he can gain there, he can be a high level QB. If he can't, there's a major issue.

How much do you think you can improve it?

It’s hard to notably improve arm strength because so much of it is mechanics. That’s my take anyway.

Unless things change a whole lot in this current game, the health of Jensen and Wirfs is going to be of crucial importance.
That is my serious major worry. Like in the SB game that cannot be mentioned, if Brady has no time to throw there could be no Bucs NFCCG.

How much do you think you can improve it?
It depends, because any possible improvement will be based upon multiple muscle groups, and some are a lot easier to strengthen than others. But he's not going to turn into Josh Allen.
