Coaching trees aren't zero sum. you can belong to more than 1. Every NFL coach is part of multiple trees
Sure. That's one way to look at it.

Depends on how you define "coaching tree" and the criteria.

Here is a fun one.

Paul Brown was HC of the Bengals in the late 60s and 70s.

Sam Wyche played for Paul Brown.

Bill Walsh coached for Paul Brown in Cinci

Bill Walsh hired Sam Wyche to be a coach at SF

Paul Brown hired Sam Wyche to coach Cinci

Is Sam Wyche part of the Bill Walsh tree or Paul Brown's?

Similar criteria to Vrabes/BOB/BB
I'd sat the successful coach probably had more influence on their growth

Well that's between Paul Brown and Bill Walsh. Good luck picking the more successful one b/c I sure can't.

2 of the alltime greats. But.. .. the #1 alltime great, I don't need to mention his name, says Paul Brown is the greatest hc in nfl history. I defer to the Stoic One

Walsh & Wyche are from the Paul Brown tree, though Walsh started his own when he moved to SF.

The West Coast Offense began taking shape however in Cincinnati.

4-2 against the Patriots too....we only won down there once with the AB game his first season and again last year with Cam at home in week 1...

Knocked us if a BYE in 2019, KVN revenge game in 2020, one point win in week 1, and again yesterday... 24-25 overall....20-23 vs. the rest of the NFL...

Go figure....
Crazy eh? I still can't believe it. There must be another reason for it. They probably don't agree on Tua as alot of people are mixed on him. A decision like that you gotta be on the same page.

Yeah that’s what I am thinking as well. There are definitely players who need to show something next year like Smith Wynn Uche God Anderson(I think he will be cut) . I even think Wino is a trade option since somehow they don’t use him that often but I think he is still a capable rusher and offers value to a team where he is more a fit. The LB group is deep next year , I am counting HT KvN(hope resign him) Bentley Jennings Perkins Uche McGrone McMillan who could all fight for MLB spots but I would still like BB to bring in one with serious speed and range
I mentioned in another thread if we are looking for a NT Fatukasi from the jets could be an option he is good

Thanks for the heads up on Fatukasi.

Paul Brown, hands down. He is the father of modern football- he innovated many of the things we see today, film study, having a playbook, having a full time staff- a OC/DC, and radio communication on the sideline, including to the QB. The list goes on and on. He turned not one, but two teams into powerhouses, the Browns and Bengals.

His shadow over the modern NFL is gigantic.

Brown gets more credit for Wyche because Brown developed Walsh who developed wyche

Dolphins interviewing Daboll. Looks like they want an offensive minded HC. But Daboll can't turn water into wine. The issue wasn't Flores.

This makes a lot of sense. I see similarities between Tua and Josh Allen. Tua definitely need some cultivating and Daboll is incredibly creative.

I came across this article and thought I would share it here. 2 points I take away from it, 1 BB does not treat his player badly as the writer says, yes he is tough, but doesn't treat them badly, 2 Tua is not and hasn't ever been ripped so the notion that Flores would say he was taking PEDs is just stupid!

Every coach, boss, supervisor, manager, president, owner, etc. have favorites. It's human nature, so not an eye opening revelation.

Lol at Tua crying "you can't treat people like that." These young guys are uber sensitive and soft. There's no crying in football.

vrabel never coached under BB

Hence the name "coaching" tree ... not "played for" tree
Didn’t he coach under Romeo (that paints a picture), who coached under Bill? I think he counts.

I wonder if at this point in time Flo thinks he handled the Tua situation correctly or not.

I wonder if it's true as the article suggests that team insiders all knew it was Flo pushing for Deshaun Watson.

I thought media reports were suggesting it was Ross who wanted him, mostly because Ross likes celebrities.

I realize Tua ain't great and they could have had Herbert instead, but still, not everyone takes to tough coaching like TB12 did.

under HC Billy "buttchin" O'Brien ... RAC was the defensive coordinator til Mikey replaced him

has worked under Luke Fickell & Urban Meyer at Ohio State before heading to join O'Briens staff in H-Town

So if people say he's in BB's coaching tree, is he part of Cowhers coaching tree as well?
