Flores fired

I learned a lot from Flo when he was here, going all the way back to when he was a scouting assistant when I was in high school. I worked in scouting when Scott Pioli was here and Flo was a scouting assistant, and I worked under him as a quality control coach and (Flores) was the safeties. Then I took over the safeties when he moved up. I worked under him when he was a coordinator.

I like how casually Steve snuck in there that he was doing scouting work for the team back in 2004-2005, given that he didn't have an official role with the team until 2012.

They are acting like they know the inner discussions of the Patriots management and simply making sh.t up. Patricia has taken the Senior Football Advisor role that Adam’s held, and he works in the roles Adam’s worked in. Belichick, Steven Belichick, and Mayo are the people who get the credit and blame for this season’s defense. Their pass defense, turnover ratio, and pass rush have been really good all season, but their run defense, especially their interior run defense has been erratic and poor, especially at important moments in games. I think another dominant DL, and a big time replacement for Hightower are priorities this off-season. Fortunately for the Patriots middle linebackers have slid in most team’s draft priorities, so getting the top MLB prospect in the draft is far more likely than the top pass rushers or CB’s is.
I agree with your takes but one thing to add. I think the Pass Rush needs help as well. We are average in Sacks and I can't imagine it's way better in pressures or stats like that altough i have not seen those stats. Coverage defense was really good but we can definitely need another pass rusher outside of Judon and Barmore. Neither of Uche Wino is playing a significant role this year and i am not the biggest fan of Wise. The pass rush could be benifited by a better early down run defense but we could use another DE or interior rusher. NT and sideline to sideline MLB are major needs for the front 7 as well as you stated

Yep, I pretty much agree with all of this. Uche and Jonnu Smith have been the biggest disappointments to me this season, and Wynn is in that camp as well. I think Wynovich is on his way out but I’m hoping Perkins can take up that role. Uche needs to start producing period. He’s got exceptional ability but hasn’t produced at all. They definitely need to continue upgrading the interior DL and they need a high quality middle LB to take over from Hightower and Bentley. Hightower is such a great player that I think he can still contribute going forward, but not as the centerpiece of the defense.

I thought it was too early for him to jump into HC. Another 1 or 2 yrs as DC for Patriots would have been valuable, IMO.

That is the problem. Too many OCs/DCs think they can be a HC with minimal experience.....

Should the jets fire saleh and hire Flores?

Flores seems to be able to beat us with ease.

Don't matter if the HC is Yogi Bear for the Phins...

Patriots have always had bad issues playing in Miami...

This doesn't make any sense. Why would any team interview a HC with a losing record (.490) that never made the playoffs in his first 3 years? I was told he was a failure and this would never happen. I was duped.
No you weren’t told that but like usual you don’t listen to what people say and chase windmills.

Just a crazy thought. Bill picks up the phone and offers the Patriots HC position to Florio.

Bill will retire from coaching to become Patriots GM. You heard it here first, folks.

About as crazy when Bill took the job 22 years ago.

Bill wants the most wins record. He's here for 5 more years.

Yeah that’s what I am thinking as well. There are definitely players who need to show something next year like Smith Wynn Uche God Anderson(I think he will be cut) . I even think Wino is a trade option since somehow they don’t use him that often but I think he is still a capable rusher and offers value to a team where he is more a fit. The LB group is deep next year , I am counting HT KvN(hope resign him) Bentley Jennings Perkins Uche McGrone McMillan who could all fight for MLB spots but I would still like BB to bring in one with serious speed and range
I mentioned in another thread if we are looking for a NT Fatukasi from the jets could be an option he is good

KvN has a contract for next year, HT and Bentley are FA after this season, but I am not sure about bringing back both of them, they lack so much speed for nowdays game that the value they might bring in run D# does not add up as much for the price they will demand (guess they will not come back for vet min)

Flores is far and away the best of the Belichick tree. (i get that it’s damning with faint praise, the only other guy who could be considered is BOB if you exclude his GM’ing skills). But he’s shown legit ability. Get him on a team with a QB, and they’re competing for a title very soon.
Mike Vrabel has entered the chat

Good I didn’t know KVN has a contract, I am not sure if HT even wants to play maybe he wants to retire or one more season. I guess both would not cost much and some veteran presence like HT would still be a nice piece of the LB group. Not the biggest Bentley fan I think he can be replaced easily

I dont think so, he was an assistant coach for 4 years before became the Titans head coach. He didn't learn it from BOB, that was his years with BB.
Depends on how you define "coaching tree" and the criteria.

Here is a fun one.

Paul Brown was HC of the Bengals in the late 60s and 70s.

Sam Wyche played for Paul Brown.

Bill Walsh coached for Paul Brown in Cinci

Bill Walsh hired Sam Wyche to be a coach at SF

Paul Brown hired Sam Wyche to coach Cinci

Is Sam Wyche part of the Bill Walsh tree or Paul Brown's?

Similar criteria to Vrabes/BOB/BB

Nick Saban is the best coach from the BB tree. Greatest college football coach of all time.
Dunno bout that. Vrabel is showing some sustained success in Tennessee. He's had the Titans contending nearly every year he's been there.

Coaching trees aren't zero sum. you can belong to more than 1. Every NFL coach is part of multiple trees
