Flores fired

I’m surprised people expect Flores to be a hot HC candidate. He missed the playoffs every year, and it sounds like there was a lot dysfunction. His coaching hires were not good.
Getting credit for “digging out of a 1-7 hole” without recognizing he got into the 1-7 hole is curious.

They have to.. his dead money cap hit is monstrous.

Unbelievable that Grier has been there since 2000 and they've cycled through some real good HC's.

Really hope we go hard at Flores but he's likely to snap up another HC job.
Chris Grier is a political dynamo just like his dad. Always deflects. Always makes sure he never takes the direct hit.

Just a bizarre move by Ross.
Flores will be getting all kinds of offers now and upcoming weeks. If I'm him, I'm looking for an almost perfect scenario with a good owner. Hes done a good job in Miami but I think he's going to someday be one of,if not the best hc in the nfl.
Seems to be following a career path similar to BB's up thru his equally stupid firing by Modell.
Would be awesome if BB could somehow bring him back here.

Flo does seem to have a hard edge to him but god forbid he hold his ****ty GM and ****ty QB accountable for their ****ty performance.
Oh well at least it won't be seen as racism, I would hope.

I do think being edgy is a real problem in today's NFL.

He's gonna have to hope he lands in a real ideal situation for his next gig, one that understands and appreciates him.

Managing up is a key skill in today's NFL.

I'd hate to see him get his next gig because of his good record but in the end get kicked to the curb because he can't work with people.

Nah. Flores won't ever compete for a title unless the GM brings in a great OC that is given ultimate say on the offense. Flores is out because he isn't good at picking his staff just look at the turnover of his OC

2019- Chad O'Shea
2020- Chan Gailey
2021- Eric Studsville/George Godsey (co-offensive coordinators) and i'm sure they would have been out after this season

and it ain't like Chad O'Shea or Chan Gailey moved on to another team for a better or equal job.

can't trust him to pick an OC and an OC can't really trust him because it seems they are the one's that gets tossed under the bus by him

he's also had 3 different OL coaches in 3 years.

Also the people wanting Flores back, you don't want him back. You want Josh Boyer back
I have to wonder if he was able to pick his OC on his own or if Grier/Ross had their say.

In a Fins forum (take with a grain of salt i guess)...

"
So a few things I can confirm (and I don't put this out lightly)

1)Flores lost the support of Dan Marino.

2)Dan has the ear of not only Steven Ross but Bruce Beal who has already been approved by the NFL to be Ross's successor as our owner. Beal has been at more games than normal this year and I expect him to take majority confirm control soon.

3)The top 3 supporters of Tua in the organization are Dan, Beal, and Grier.

4)Flo's handling of the offensive staff especially the last 2 years confused and frustrated a lot of people.

5)Flo was loved by defensive players, offensive players were hit and miss. "

We all know too well what happens when a Grier wins in a power struggle. Who are the 2022 equivalents Chris Canty or Damon Denson?

No doubt about it, the owner is the problem here.

Flores not only outcoached Bill twice this season he got Harbaugh by playing the Zero Blitz that Jackson couldn’t solve.
That was beautiful to watch. The best way to play these running QB’s/questionable passers is blitz them from all angles and make them think quickly. Bill did this to Michael Vick in 2001 sacking him 10 times but has been conservative since. The rest of NFL are too afraid to come after running QB’s as well.

Lots of openings:

Just a crazy thought. Bill picks up the phone and offers the Patriots HC position to Florio.

Bill will retire from coaching to become Patriots GM. You heard it here first, folks.

About as crazy when Bill took the job 22 years ago.

I'm in shock. Power struggle for real. That's some real bad MOJO moving forward for the Phins. Dysfunctional.
