OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I can't root for the Rams, I just can't. I'd rather GB wins than the Rams but then who do you want to hear about for the next 2 years? Mahomes wins another SB or Rodger is ************ and overcomes broken leg and toe to win championship.

I do not under any circumstances want the Chiefs to win. At least if Rodgers wins he might simply f.uck off and go host Jeopardy or something. He’s turning 39 next season and I doubt he has a fraction of the commitment and ability to do what Brady is doing beating time. Now ideally neither team wins it but Rodgers is the lesser or two evils. He gets a second ring. Big deal.

Ya it's tough but I like Mahomes more than Rodgers even though I don't hate Rogers. The media frenzy would be too much if he won. I do like the way he's playing this season though.

They don’t match up with Green Bay as well as last year.

Godwin was a major force, so that will be tough to overcome. Brown will fill in, but Godwin’s consistent chain moving is huge. Brown tends to be more boom or bust with big plays but less of the shorter routes.

Their run defense is simply not as dominant this year; not sure why. They’re still good, but for whatever reason the interior d-line is getting moved backwards a lot more.

Their pass rush isn’t as great either. Pierre-Paul was a huge factor against the Packers last year. Bakhtiari is likely back as well.

I still think it’s a fairly even overall matchup, but I thought last year they had a big advantage.

Bakhtiari hasn't played in over a year so I don't expect him to be as dominant.

I agree with much of this, but Brown has run a lot of short get open quick routes in Tampa. Godwin would have had a lot fewer catches if Brown had been around all year. Brown would have been a great weapon for atom to have had against the Saints.

The problem for the Bucs is keeping AB and Gronk healthy until the playoffs. If AB goes down they need to change the playbook and now that both Bernard and Fournette are out they will have no choice but to trust Jones. That last game was so brutal I have to also imagine they are beaten up mentally as well. The game felt like the Saints were trying to hurt them.

Agree. The number 1 seed is gone.
I'm not sure going all out for the #2 seed is worth it considering they are the walking wounded.

Bucs have to start prioritizing health. I like their chances against anyone with Evans, AB, Gronk and Fournette in the playoffs. Not having one of those guys will be tough. If they don't have 2 of them, they are done. Their depth is not as good this year.

Their secondary looks highly suspect to me. I also believe Tampa matches up extremely well with them so we will see how the seeds fall but I'm not that nervous about playing them versus the Rams who I think are a terrible matchup for Tampa.

GB is losing to Tampa or LA I guarantee that they don’t matchup with either especially with Ramsey eliminating Adams

Maybe you missed this game from a few weeks ago where Adams had 104 yards receiving on Ramsey...

AB was there best WR before getting hurt he’s being underrated by a lot of people and Tampa needs to bench JPP for Tryon

Greenbay owns the Rams. Adams is moved around he's not exclusively covered by Ramsey

don’t need to take chances with him with the schedule they have left.

Yep...agree about Tryon.

The DEs have been a huge problem for the team this year. JPP has just looked old and ineffective. He's just about 33, and I can't imagine his career will go on much longer. Still, I like him when he's healthy; let's see if he has a little left in the tank.

Barrett is, to me, an absolute joke of a "star" player, though it's not uncommon for his position. 95% of the time, he just does a spin move that gets stuffed and he gets taken out of the play, and not only does the he not apply pressure, but now there's no one containing his side of the line. Fantastic as long as other guys blow up the line and stick like glue on receivers...otherwise as useless as they come. A guy like Collins or Winovich could get 10-12 sacks a year just like Barrett, with those players around him, with the sole job of running at the QB.

Anyway, this is why I hate building a defense around EdGe RuShErS. Paying $30M for two guys who are one dimensional. This never seems to work, but I see teams do it all the time. Freeney-Mathis, Watt-Clowney, etc. What a stupid ass way to build a team. The money should go to the interior defense like a NT/DT to stop the run, the stud LBs who can tackle and cover, and a shutdown CB/stud FS. I get why the Bucs were in a position to do it since they already have Devin White and Vita Vea on rookie deals, but it also just highlights even more why they should have targeted better secondary players this offseason. There's only so much more to squeeze out of an already dominant front 7, whereas there was a lot of improvement potential in the secondary.

Barrett makes the pro bowl. Vea, David, and White do not. Lmfao...you just can't overstate how stupid accolades are in football. I noticed there is only one FS and two SS per conference as well. Lol. Not enough SaCkS for those free safeties I guess, even though they impact the game in a far greater way.

Also, I'm going to **** myself seeing that Kyler Murray made the pro bowl, in an absolute moronic decision, for the second year in a row. Murray over Prescott and Stafford    I would personally vote for Cousins over him too, but I wouldn't expect everyone to follow me on that one. Garoppolo also has a strong case.

JPP won’t be on the roster next year so they don’t have to worry about him anymore.

I was told making the pro bowl was a big deal...

Brady named to record-breaking 15th pro bowl

Timmy to chime in on why this isn't as big an accomplishment as it sounds in 3...2...1...

Goddamn...I had no idea this was a thing. Rookie contracts are tied to accolades, or at last some of them are.

As I said, Murray didn't deserve the pro bowl last year or this year. But the fact that he made the pro bowl both years...means that his fifth year option goes from 16.5M to a whopping 29.7M! If he had made one pro bowl and not two, it would be around $23M. So, all in all, it's going to cost the Cardinals $13M extra for a fifth year option in 2023 due these two selections.

Meanwhile, the AFC selection makes the Murray pick seem rational. What in the actual ****....lol.

Murray is still somehow 3rd in the MVP race according to some. He’s not even the 3rd best in the NFC right now.

Rodgers really did inherent the mediot's love that use to be Manning's. Brady won the fan vote yet Rodgers is surprisingly the probowl starter.
