OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Pretty decent games Thursday except for Bears/Lions. The NFL really needs to take Detroit off of Thanksgiving every year.

Not gonna happen, apparently.

The NFL has said that the Lions (and Cowboys) keep their games because they were willing to host Thanksgiving games at a time when no one else wanted to do it. Surely, however, that doesn’t give both teams an infinity hammerlock on the games. Or does it?

In early 2019, Lions president Rod Wood made it clear that the team won’t surrender its spot as the host of a game on the fourth Thursday in November.

“I’m pretty confident that we’re going to have the 12:30 kickoff on Thanksgiving for as far in the future as we can ever see,” Wood said at the time. “And it’s something that we should be very proud of and I know it’s special to the fans, it’s special to the city and it puts Detroit on the map every [year] to kind of kick off the holiday season.”

Roughly 15 years ago, some owners pushed for the Detroit and Dallas Thanksgiving games to rotate. Instead, the NFL added a rotating night game as of 2006.

Lions won't be giving up Thanksgiving hammerlock, and league doesn't seem inclined to make them - ProFootballTalk

Edelman’s injury is not something that heals to where he can play professional football ever again. He’s done.
That's too bad.

However, I think the Bucs will keep Godwin anyway. Probably through a 2nd franchise tag. He has been too good to let go and they need to keep going all in for Brady's last years. Godwin would have to give a hometown discount otherwise he'd be too expensive for the Bucs to sign longterm.

Arians is only saying that Antonio Brown is making progress. We won’t have real injury news on him until Thursday’s practice, as Wednesday is really just a walkthrough on a short week. If he’s practicing then, it’s a good step in the right direction.

Bucs have signed receiver John Hurst back to their practice squad. Second-year pro from West Georgia had been released to make room for Breshad Perriman two weeks ago.

The Jaguars are signing receiver/returner Jaydon Mickens off the Bucs’ practice squad. He goes back to team he played for in 2017-18, with a punt-return touchdown in 2017.

The Buccaneers had eight players carry the ball and 10 players with a catch last night. #GoBucs Over the last 35 years, only two other teams accomplished that: the Saints did it against the Panthers in 2013, as did the Seahawks against the 49ers in 2017. #NFL

So true. Mac Jones being one of the rare exceptions. Hard to believe that he was the 5th QB taken. Brady I believe was the 6th QB taken.

Evans even bobbled that catch on the video. What is it with him? Dude has huge hands, why does it seem he can't catch the ball cleanly at times?

The video shows yet another reason why Brady doesn't get hit or sacked much. Yes, his O-line is playing great. But it's also about Brady's understanding of pressure and how to move away from it instead of into it.

He will also spike the ball into the closet receivers feet.

This is why it is infuriating to me when Montana hand waves off Brady's longevity due to the rules. Yes, the rules play a part but the major reason is they way he plays the position from the pocket. Look at how many QBs have gone out with injuries this season. Off the top of my head - Winston, Zach Wilson, Russell Wilson, Murray, Fields, Tua. I am sure there are several more but that took me about 10 seconds. Happens every year. Football is still physical and guys are still getting rocked. The difference is the way Brady plays from the pocket, his ability to get rid of the ball quickly, and of course his physical regimen which is second to none in the history of the sport.

WFT, I maen WTF is the story with All World TE OJ Howard? I remember lusting after that shiny new toy for the Pats. LONG recovery? Lack of recovery? Or what? Less than 25% of the snaps which is disappointing given the need to ease up on real All World Gronk snap count (so we can Release The Kraken in the post season) and Brate's penchant for drops. Word up on what's the story?
