OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The Bucs will wait and see on Ali Marpet and his oblique strain, says Bruce Arians. It'll probably take them until the end of the week to know if he'll be able to return in Indianapolis.

It is odd. At times they look so good especially in the red zone. Then other times, they are seeing two different things. Part of it I think is Evans is just not a great route runner and Brady's throws with so much anticipation that it is a bad combo for both of them.
I've been trying to figure out Evans and even watched his highlights (which is pretty boring compared to AB and Gronk).

Think of him as the anti-Edelman.
He's not much of YAC receiver.
Catches tons of deep throws.
Catch % is low for a top receiver.
Takes awhile to get open.
Outside of the redzone, he sort of sucks at short yardage.

What makes Evans a great receiver is his chunk catches of 15 plus or more yards and his ability to get TDs in the red zone and out of it.

Makes me think Edelman would be a good compliment on the team if Godwin leaves. Any chance he could heal enough to contemplate a comeback.

If the Bucs can shut down the Colts run game can Wentz beat them through the air?

Doubt thats true. I think Brady figured out there is more than one way to win. If Bill was coach, all those receivers would not be here and he would be throwing to guys that he found at the bottom of a practice squad. Some of those contracts would not exist either, including his, Bill would try to win with Trask.

That wasn't the question though. The question was if BB/Josh McDaniels had this team, as is, would it be undefeated? I suspect it would be.

Coaching doesn't make up 3 wins no matter what some people here think. They would be more disciplined and the defense would be much different but would that result in more wins? Who knows. BB doesn't just show up and erase losses.

Of course it can.

No. Not undefeated. Bills teams start notoriously slow.

Godwin won’t be back next year and I expect Odell to be the replacement

Brady looked pretty good to me last night. With those kind of weapons on a Patriots team along with Brady would they be undefeated? Pretty good chance don't you think?

I think the record would be about the same, within a game either way.

That was certainly a special year but an outlier. I do think the Bucs might be 7-2 under Bill right now but not undefeated. The injuries would have hurt him too this year.

But if your overall point is Brady is winning and won last year despite his coaching, I definitely agree. The most important thing Arians did last year was hand the offense over to Tom after the bye.

Ok. I'll take 7-2.

No

  • That Rams game was a scheduled loss.
  • The loss of a huge chunk of the defensive backfield is something that would have had BB scrambling as much as it's had the Bucs scrambling.
  • WR volleyball sessions happen in New England as well as in Tampa.
