Excepting 2000, this year has been the best draft of the BB era.

Agree. Dugger has gotten better in coverage, though. You have to admit that. He was manned up with Pitts for most of the night and nearly erased him.

I think last night a reporter noted it was mostly Philips on Pitts, but yes Dugger has really upped his pass defense this year

Jones and Barmore was in effect 2 first rounders, including (arguably) the 2nd best QB in the class. Stevenson is also turning out to be a stud.
*2nd* best QB…?

as for Barmore…. He is starting to make me think of what I had hoped Malcom Brown would be but never really became.

I keep reading that Lawrence is the proverbial "generational" QB who was clear No 1. I wouldn't swap Mac for any of the others but for the moment am giving Lawrence the benefit of the doubt. Time will tell who the real QB1 of the draft was - I think it will be Mac but maybe a bit early.

2010 was excellent. Mesko was a very good punter, Spikes was a stud (pun intended) stopping the run.
2010 was great. Formed the foundation of that second dynasty team. This year’s early returns are looking very promising. 2000 was not a good draft outside of the GOAT in the 6th round, obviously.

This. Lawrence's numbers right now don't mean anything to me. He plays for a poorly coached team with a lousy OL. Give him a Belichick team and a real OL and the difference will be night and day.

2010 and 2012 dude

2000 and this year are in a class of their own. As we saw last night, and as is true with the NFL in general, getting a generational QB makes all the difference between having a competitive team vs a mediocre team. Acquiring a good QB who can competently compete in the NFL has always been such a hard thing to achieve.

2000 was otherwise a **** draft, but getting Tom Brady obviously dwarfs everything else, before or since, ever.

It is absolutely absurd that Mac is already being referred to as a “generational QB” but not only fans but media people.

We can say : "I like the early returns" !

It is entirely possible that Mac Jones is an Alex Smith in Kansas City level QB. Which would be great, he had very good stats if you go look them up and with an actual non bozo of a head coach you can win a super bowl with that. But Jesus, generational? Why can’t we just say he looks good?

Still don't get why some folks weren't high on Mac. Yes, only one season starting at Bama but it was a pretty decent season, and it wasn't all down to stellar WRs and RBs.

I assume you are referring to my post.. if so, please note that I said "as with the NFL in GENERAL." We've seen how many franchises are trapped in perpetual mediocrity because of the quality of their QB.

And when I said "as we saw last night.." I was referring to Matt Ryan, not Mac.

Jones after the game was asked how he's spend his first free Sunday of the season:

"Just get home and watch the film and relax with my family and just keep watching film."

Bringing his gf to see the family no doubt, she knows the playbook. I would love it if it turned out she was some kind of football genius drilling TF out of Mac (about the playbook) in every off moment.

Oh. My bad.

Besides taking Brady one round after I wanted them to take him, 2000 was not a good draft. 2001 with Light and Seymour was excellent.

yea very odd

lots and lots of mocks, etc had him going in round 2

I think that the real generational guy is actually the current 'Bama QB, Bryce Young. But I am basing that on a couple of minutes of highlights (High School?).

Before the draft and afterwards, I said that I had Mac rated as the number 2 QB in the draft....before you guys heap all the usual accolades on me, I should note that had Zack Wilson number. Ha!

Mac's topless photo! That's what did it. Thank goodness that; we would not have gotten him save for the topless shot.

As far as arm strength, I saw him uncork some beautiful bombs to Waddle and others. Of course those guys were wide open....
