OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Tom with another stinker. It was always annoying seeing him lose games to inferior teams he has no business losing to.
No kidding. But he is human even though it can be easy to forget with his Goat career.

9 more TDs to 700.

If the Bucs end up the 3 seed they’ll play the 6th seed which will in all likelihood be a team with around a .500 record. They should win that at home.

The Rams as the 5th seed will play the Cowboys and the winner of that would play the Cards in the divisional round which is a really tough draw for the Cards.

Which leaves the Packers who will also be playing a .500 team at home and likely will win. Meaning it’s Bucs in Green Bay for the divisional round.

Can the Bucs beat the Packers in Green Bay in the divisional round? Not if it’s tomorrow.

BUT if the Bucs can somehow get the 2 seed then it’s this same situation but the Packers come into Tampa. But this would now require the Packers to drop 2 games because they they’d have the tiebreaker if both teams are 14-3.

Bucs healthy beats anybody

NE did just fine today.

Do you actually think it's just a matter of health? GB and Dallas winning drops TB to 4th in the conference.
Yes - it's injuries and nothing more. They'll be fine if healthy.

Yeah. They have been snake bitten all season. 8 games to go. Hopefully they get some guys back soon.

Horrendous loss. Brady was fine; if I hear one more time about his “two picks”. One should be adjusted as a catch/fumble. Leftwich wasn’t the problem. You shouldn’t need to play perfect for a win against a 2-6 team. Terrible hands by Darden and Bernard early on when they were trying to establish the short passing game. They had the ball for 20 minutes. Defense just abysmal at getting off the field, and the offense was forced to abandon the running attack. You run 30% of the time, the defense allows extremely long drives all game and 29 points, only a few NFL offenses teams can still that game. And the Bucs are one of those teams, but they’re not when you add in the losses of Brown and Gronk, and not when you wreck your margin of error in the first quarter.

Now, I think it is important to consider: this is actually the Bucs only loss in two years against a bad team. So, I wouldn’t say they have some history of playing down to opponents or overconfidence or anything.

But overall, the loss has no silver lining. They needed to two things, though these certainly weren’t easy and there’s the luck factor too.

1. Win all the games they’re expected to win easily.
2. Avoid major season ending injuries to key players.

So I’d say this game changes up their outlook. If Vea is out for the year, they’re in big, big trouble, and that’s even if they do regain their CBs. And I’ll just add an “I told you so.” I HATE paying an edge rushing, sack specialist all that money. As usual, nowhere to be found when the team is struggling. Only effective as a finisher when everyone else is winning their matchups. A $16M player needs to be someone who always steps up in these types of situations, but that isn’t just Barrett, it’s a big amount of these overpaid edge guys who do nothing else except collect sacks under the right circumstances.

So obviously I couldn’t see the game. Was the pass rush really a problem? I know stats can lie but 5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss doesn’t sound like a bad pass rush. It looks like the WFT just dink and dunked down the field with no big plays which, to me, screams bad secondary not bad defensive line.

more like piss poor coaching. The Bucs look like the same team they were in week 1 when they were healthy, at least on defense. And weren’t you the one who predicted the Bucs would come back and beat the Rams?

At this point any rematch against the Rams is probably gonna be in Tampa so that’s advantage Bucs.

I don't remember if I said that or not, but they'll beat the Rams in January when it matters more.

After years of Edelman it’s seriously frustrating watching Mike Evans. He quits over the middle constantly, and rarely seems to be a factor unless his man is badly beat.

He honestly seems more interested in drawing a flag than fighting for the ball on some plays. I think Brady is seriously missing an Edelman. I reliable chain mover that just busts his ass for every inch.

Then add in the ridiculous penalties, the injuries, and I’m pretty sure he’s hiding one of his own. The Bucs have no rhythm. They have nothing to go to and move the chains when nothing is working.

It's pretty obvious their O isn't the same w/o AB and Gronk. Those two have chemistry w/ Tom that none of the other guys receiving the ball have achieved. Sooo many dropped passes.

Brady played all right. Arians is just being Arians.

The fact Brady gets dinged on his stats for that first int is embarrassing. That was 0% on Tom.

Being the 4 seed likely means playing the Rams at home then the Cardinals on the road in consecutive weeks which is a nightmare.

The pass rush rarely generated much momentum. 5 yard TFL on 1st down, give up 9 the next play, 7 after that and it’s a wash

The Bucs had enough talent to beat WFT. They had Brady, Fournette, Evans, and Godwin. The WFT had Taylor Heinicke and McLaurin (and no Chris Samuels). Evans had 13 TDs and 1000 yards receiving last year. Godwin had 840 yards and 7 TDs. They have chemistry with Brady.
