If OBJ is released by the Browns and is unclaimed, do you want him in NE on the cheap? (Update: Signed by Rams)

But according to reports during this offseason, the clock is ticking on Wilson's time in Seattle.
I heard a reputable reported say earlier this season Wilson will once again try and forge his way out of Seattle this upcoming off season.

I'm not sure what Wilson's complaint is, but adding Beckham on a real contract might be a solution.

IIRC his main complaint is that his O-line has been pretty terrible for much of his career. He is hit more than just about any QB.

Is my boy OBJ a patriot yet or what? Who’s got the inside scoop

Odell stated that he preferred to go unclaimed so he can pick where and who he goes to...a team would have to have at least 7.25mm in cap space because that is what is owed to him. Any team has until 4:00pm today to claim him.

Guessing Jets claim him.
I could be wrong.

Nobody is going to claim him, least of all the Jets. The contract voids at the end of the season, so this would be a short-term rental for $7.5m, and he'd be playing someplace he didn't want to be in the first place. He'll be a free agent by this evening.

I do not understand how two years of OBJ's contract can be dropped,
while this year's salary still applies.

ELI5 please?
Thx.

I'm curious how depth per throw charts out on the release time.

Well the long throws obviously take more time - 2.6 seconds isn't enough for the receiver to go deep. But the converse doesn't follow - sometimes the QB holds the ball for a long time because nobody gets open downfield, and so ends up throwing it short to an outlet receiver instead.

I believe if he passes through waivers, the Browns owe him the rest of any guaranteed money, his new team pays him the minimum, and that minimum reduces what the Browns have to pay him.

Another stubborn team holding onto a player that clearly did not fit in and lost all trade value after his ACL injury.

GB should be calling his Agent right now.

How was Cam a diva? He was a great teammate.

Cam was fine as long as he was the starter, he would not have been a good teammate had they kept him on the bench. He openly acknowledged that they released him because they couldn’t deal with his “ big personality” as a back up, and said that’s why he was released. I do however agree that he was a good teammate while he was here.

Because the player and the team agreed to restructure the contract in a way that benefited both sides.

I don't think that's what he meant. And Julian Edelman touched on it as well, the issue would be (IMO) that he's a very popular player and leader and if Mac struggles, it's going to get awkward and some guys may be pissed if Cam isn't playing. I don't think it means Cam would be a douche.
