Well that's it then. Move on folks nothing more to see here...
I don’t think anyone ever thought the Patriots would claim him. The thought was that the contract was too burdensome for anyone to want to claim him, so he would clear waivers and then be able to sign with anyone. And they’d be able to fit him at that point since they could structure the contract their own way.
Is Trent credible tho? That's not a credible source.
I don’t think he’s washed. I think he’s far from his prime, but that doesn’t mean he can’t contribute anything. I posted earlier about his yards/target and how his efficiency has gone down. Since the injuries started in his third season, his yardage totals have been more than anything about a high volume of targets. This notion that he is washed is out if touch with reality
2018 (last year with Giants with over-the-hill Eli as his QB):
77 for
1,052 (13.7 ypc) and 6TDs *in only 12 games*.
2019: 74 rec for 1,035 yds (14 ypc with long of 89 yds) and 4 TDs
is he still struggling to recover from his ACL injury? That I don’t know.
As a guy who has the ability to play inside and outside with elite YAC ability, he is in some ways perfect for the Pats offense. People love to write that he freelances but we have no idea to what extent that is true or if it is true at all. He'll never be the guy that he was during his early Giants days but he would still give them a potential difference maker in the passing game, which they currently lack.
Bill is usually spot-on when it comes to establish veterans and how they will fit in in the locker room and on the practice field (ie. will they buy in to the Patriots “culture”). I trust him to properly gauge whether OBJ is a personality and scheme fit for this year's team and whether he is likely to have a positive or negative affect on Mac and his development. In other words, I will be fine if they decide to aggressively pursue him and also if they pass on him.
Pete deluding himself that the Seahawks and their slapd*ck OL and defense can contend in the NFC. He’s gonna ruin everything by claiming OBJ on waivers.
Exactly. The Browns and he deliberately structured the deal so that nobody would even vaguely think about claiming him.
So then it will become a negotiation after tomorrow - where does he want to go, and who will offer the most for him. But I think his priority is finding the right fit rather than getting paid this year. Bill in his comments cited other players that they brought in late in the year that worked out well for both sides. That's a sign that he's definitely interested if the price is right.
The difference between OBJ and Agholor is that OBJ can win on a quick route as well. So he would have been useful even in a game like yesterday's where Mac had little time to throw.

Seattle has 13.5 million in cap space…
Hence their ability to claim him on waivers….
When did I claim that they didn’t have the cap space. It is foolish for them, in my opinion, to waste $7.25 on a half season rental when they already have two elite guys at WR and are unlikely to contend for a deep playoff run in a stacked NFC this year, even with Wilson returning this week. That unused cap space could be pushed into 2022, minus any end-of-season performance bonuses.
