Patriots To Potentially Host The 2019 Super Bowl?
Could a Super Bowl be coming to Gillette Stadium? (USA TODAY Images) |
After the last Super Bowl which took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, locally there was talk on the radio about the potential of a Super Bowl in the Boston area in the future. Well, I was told very interesting news that the Kraft Family might be very serious in hosting a Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium.
During a VIP Tour Thursday Night, a source has told me that the tour guide revealed there are discussions about potentially adding 15,000 seats to Gillette Stadium, in the hopes of potentially hosting the 2019 Super Bowl. I find it fascinating that a guide would be open with such information regarding a potential bid by the Patriots ownership to host the Super Bowl.
As of right now the 2018 Super Bowl is to be hosted by the Minnesota Vikings in their new stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. However, there has been no announcement yet of which city or team will host the 2019 Super Bowl.
I think if the Kraft Family go ahead with adding additional seats it would be beneficial for the fans, as there is a need to increase the Stadium regardless. Whether or not the reason for the increase of capacity is about trying to get a Super Bowl, the Patriots fans would seriously benefit, as it is very tough as we speak to get tickets to a game.
Only time will tell if this information I was told leads to an actual bid on a Super Bowl, but I do like the idea of a potential Super Bowl in my back yard. Boston and the surrounding towns is a world class area, so why not have a world class event here?
