Sad to see BB's legacy ripped apart like this

So why did you say "I'll support this team for as long as I can, but two seasons of putrid offense is not the continuation of a football golden age". This implies that you're patience is running out and it won't be long before you cannot support the team.
As I have stated many times here, I couldn't care less about losing after the incredible run we've had. We'll be playing with house money for years to come.

Nobody’s questioning it because it’s self-evident that he’s not actually a 5D chess player and is dependent on talent like everyone else. The situation is actually a lot like the Patriots. Kawhi got traded after no longer wanting to play for “the genius coach” and won a championship the next year. Popovich is nothing without a superstar. You really haven’t seen a massive shift from Popovich’s reputation a few years ago versus today?
And now, like it or not, Bill is going through the same thing because players that he and Bob dumped went to another team and won it all the very next year. Proving yet again that it's about the players and not the coaches. That always has been and always will be true.

Ultimately it was best for the franchise.
The run was over and it was time to pay the bills. If Brady stayed there is no way they win in 2020. There were no resources to work with to improve the team that struggled in the second half of 2019, with brady putting up awful numbers. Sure Brady probably could have willed them to 9 wins maybe even 10 and a one and done. That would have taken about 50 mill away from money available for the rebuild.
Rebuild a mediocre team with a 44 year old QB and little money to spend or with a new QB and 60 mill to spend?
As of 1/4/20 when Brady threw the pick 6 to end the 2019 season anyone looking honestly at the team, the cap situation, the play of Brady over the previous 2 months, and his birth certificate would have admitted this team was not going to win a SB before Brady was too old to lead them there.
It sucks, but it is what it is.
Today people are griping about the free agents brought in, had we kept Brady they would be griping about why they didn’t bring anyone in to surround him, and why he is getting killed behind a bargain basement OL, far worse than the one we have.
There's a lot of conjecture about what might have been if Brady was kept. My hope was that the Pats would allow Brady to finish his career here, you know, like Bill is being allowed to do. The record wouldn't matter to me after the run we had.

If Bill had been sent packing instead of Brady and I saw him on the sideline coaching another team, it would hardly cause a blip. But I'm as bothered as I can be when I see Brady playing in another uniform. That should never have happened.

Ahhhh. I see

The 1/6 peeps should be punished for what they did . Who is their “leader?”

I am sure you are just as upset about the summer of love when 30 or so people were killed and there was billions of dollars of damage :
WTF does that bs have to do with Bill's legacy?

You know how bad things have become? I was afraid to pick the Pats vs the Jets giving up 7 points.

Ask patsfanva
I see. That's the problem. He's been on my ignore list for quite some time so I didn't see what you were responding to. He's a one trick pony whose only reason for being here is to derail threads with his warped political messages.

Yeah that doesn’t matter to me. Doing what’s best for the success of the franchise shouldn’t be overridden by emotional feelings.
If, knowing Brady would be done before a reasonable rebuild could happen belichick kept Brady just so we would have warm feelings that he didn’t play for another team, he would be negligent in his job.

Im sorry things have become so bad for you. Perhaps try relaxing and having interests beyond Patriot negativity.

Curiosity killed the cat.

The list of players that Bill chased away is actually pretty long. Just in the past few years he chased away Brady, Gronk, Amendola, Gilmore and Thuney. I suppose there's more and we could add AB to that recent list also, but that was on Bendover Bob for his personal PR more than on Bill.

I won't get into the piss poor drafting which also affects Bill's legacy but all of that is showing up on the field. But hey, at least he's getting top dollar and his kids have jobs.
So when players change teams they are “chased away”?
I’ll take 6 rings over keeping those players for what is left of their career, and the price it would cost.

Pats would be a Super Bowl contender this year with Brady. And they'd win it too. No question in my mind.

Without Brady they're missing a lot more than what Brady can do on the field. Leadership too. They don't have "it" right now. Hence the stupid penalties, questionable coaching decisions and so on.

No they wouldn’t because they wouldn’t have close to the same team. They use all of their cap space this year to build this team. They would have had 50,000,000 less if they kept Brady, so they would have added virtually nothing to the 2020 team that added virtually nothing to the 2019 team.
Your theory would require Brady to play for free.

Brady would be dead behind that online. No matter how much more quickly we think he gets rid of the ball

Former Pats players such as Revis have said Bill believes they are just a cog in his machine (everyone is replaceable), but is finding out the hard way that’s not the case.

Most of the players Bill has let go, I didn’t have a problem with, but it’s him not having a replacement plan is what bothered me.

Also, media has just realized his drafting has been piss poor since 2013. Anytime you’d like to know why they lost most playoff games, just look at their drafts from that year and the previous year and you’ll find your answer.

Oh and his kids need to go. You are just asking for dysfunction.

In a thread about BB's legacy, people are crying because others are discussing BB's legacy.

After watching Garropolo last night and knowing that Bill wanted to keep him over Brady, that's another place where Bill's legacy could take a hit. Garropolo blows.

This doesn't make sense. Brady whethered through retoolings in 06 and 13.

Give him a three year deal. The first year would be so-so, but then you have more cap after, and other too free agents may take a paycut to play with Brady.

Why would cap suddenly be an unsolvable issue after 20 seasons?
It wasn't. That excuse is part of Bill's damage control.

If that's the case then how would we define the opposite move of letting the greatest QB the game has ever seen walk away when he has a whole lot more left in the tank, which is what's actually happening right before our eyes?

After seeing how Brady has performed since Bob and Bill showed him the door it's pretty clear that it was a mistake, no matter how many excuses fans try to make for the worst blunder in the history of Boston sports.

I was thinking recently, we have never gone out and brought in so many new guys. We had the money so I get why we did it. But so many new pieces trying to learn our system, culture and a rookie QB on top. Maybe our expectations were too high. I don't really have an explanation for the defense other than our vet players are just old and too old and not bringing Gilmore back was devastating to the secondary.
Our expectations? I think the expectations of some people that didn't think it would take time for a rookie QB and 23 new players to work together as a team.

The Pats are 2 or 3 plays from 5 and 2. I think they have more than my expectations all things considered. No matter what the outcome of this year. They are setup nicely for the next 10 with their QB
