No matter whether you love Bill or hate him, its hard and sad to see his legacy get ripped to shreds like this. As the mediocrity continues it will only get worse.

Any damage done to BB's legacy from this is only if you think that legacy is Bill always had a magical system and can win with anyone. No he can't.

It's not rocket science that your all world coach doesn't look as good without your all universe QB.

He has no one to blame but himself. The bad drafts have caught up with him. The coaching up and down the board has been substandard. Guys with talent aren't being used correctly or are just not taking the coaching. Not great.

The NFL is a "What have you done for me lately" league...and everyone loses their fastball as they get older. The critism is warranted as of right now. BB is going to the HoF and will likely have a bronze statue right next to Tom's at 1 Patriot Place when all is said and done. But, as I said, right now, BB deserves a lot of the blame for the roster and record.

in a world where clicks and twitter followers are key, where guys like tom curran and ben volin are considered "sports media" (i'm not even going to get into the radio guys), pond scum might be an upgrade

my GF, who is not really a sports fan, was listening to the post game presser when the radio broadcast ended the other day......she asked why in the hell they make anyone do this immediately following a loss, and thought BB was being too nice when they asked such stupid questions lol

The following are BB’s own doing:

  • Drafting woes
  • As more teams construct top heavy rosters with cheaper players surrounding stars, the pats employ the most “middle class” players in the NFL
  • As the league becomes more about offense & explosive plays (20+ yards) either refuse or fail to add explosiveness on offense
  • As more teams use analytic-based decisions to go for it on 4th down, the Pats are 32nd in the NFL in aggressiveness
  • The pats remain one of the few teams starting 250+ lb LBers on defense
  • Some coaches with questionable qualifications on the coaching staff
My biggest gripes are BB the GM & BB the coach refusing to adapt to the modern game. The pats offense & defense still lacks speed & the playing not to lose mindset doesn’t work with the quality of offenses across the NFL.

He’s still got time to prove them wrong and I’m hoping he does. No question that he’s being provided enough fuel here lol so this all may be a good thing. plus tb winning his very first season without him.

Belichick still has time to turn this team around. A two year rebuild process is nothing strange in the NFL. Many teams take decades to rebound from losing a HOF QB. The Bills just found their Jim Kelly replacement and the Dolphins are still looking for their Marino replacement.

If this team is a contender next year or even the year after that, people will forget the Cam Newton year and this year (although there is still time this year to turn it around).

Every great one loses their fastball. He's nearly 70, he can't handle head coaching and GM responsibilities anymore. Poor drafting for 7 straight years has led us to this difficult rebuild, and caused us to overpay for mediocre talents in FA. BB should find a top notch young GM out there and hand him the keys to finding the talent, and BB should do what he does best...coach. We found ourselves a great young QB in Mac Jones. The future is far from hopeless. However, he needs to find Mac a Cee Dee Lamb level weapon on offense and a young stud left tackle if we are ever going to contend again.

Well that and he's treated the media like pond scum for 20 years and those are the guys voting.
Media are the pond scum. They think it's about them and if they were to think of intelligent questions instead of just trying to get click bait material, he would spend an hour at the podium and answer the questions. There are far too many people in the media game and far too many of them are just trying to get 'clicks' to move up.

Definitely agree. I think what's painful is a lot of great offensive talent fell to the 2nd round in 2018-2019 NFL drafts and we struck out completely. The rebuild could have gone much smoother, but we whiffed. So we spent 80 million on offense in FA for mediocre talent.

You mean they are not just regular joes like us working to provide food on the table for their families?

You can't just say someone is a regular joe to excuse everything. They act like clowns and all protect each other. NFL needs to continue to cut their access and in turn it will reduce their numbers in the coming years. Flush out the garbage.

I'm not saying Bill's assessment of the media being pond scum. The most certainly are...but, you have to play the game or at least pretend to. Or you can take the third route and treat them the way Bill does but don't expect them to do you a solid if/when you need it (like in HoF voting, say).

Why do you have to play the game? Maybe we should all put our foot down and flush them down the toilet. He'll get in the HOF even if he were to go take a dump at the podium for them tomorrow.

They're not going anywhere. Sports media has been a thing since gladiators were fighting in the Collesuem.
