OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Agreed. Bernard will be cheap to keep. Fournette will be tricky depended on how well he plays. Top 10 to 15 RB gets paid about 5-6 million.

If Fournette continues to play really well, he could end up being paid in the top 10 which is 8 million to 16 mil at the top with Mccaffery. Might be too rich for the Bucs.
They would be stupid to pay him that much, so I dont see it. Running backs are literally a dime a dozen.

I'm not so sure about that. I would still take Rodgers over anybody not named Brady. Even over Mahomes
Not me, the playoffs exist. Rodgers is good if his team is ahead, once they have some issues or get behind, he tends to fold up. Seen it too many times. An all time great needs to be better than 75th in comebacks.

I'd love Team Herbert to shock Team Mahomes and end up with the better career many years down the road.

After ONE SB, when they started talking about Mahomes and the Chiefs winning more SB then Brady and the Pat's, it just seemed way too early and way way over the top.

Reminds me how they use to fawn over Manning and the Colts, and Brady and the Pat's rained on their parade.

Hope Herbert does the same to Mahomes.
Brady has ruined a lot of soon to be dynastys.

Not a good comparison, that 2000 team was a talented team ready to explode into a multichampionship team with the right QB.

A better comparison is actually the 2019 Bucs team. A talented team a GOAT and a couple veterans away from a multi SB run.

I would compare the 2021 Pat's to the Titans a couple years ago. Game manager at QB. Run heavy. Good defense. If the rebuild goes well, they'll look alot like today's Titans. Playoff caliber, but not clear cut favorites to win a SB much less several.
I am not sure we have a back on this team that is as good as the one they have. It is a closer comparison though.

There are a rare few in the top paid who are proving their worth like Henry and Kamara. Probably can count them on one hand though. Fournette could be one. He has the SB. Has the draft status. Looks the part. He just has to show that he can do it for a full season. If he can, someone will pay him top 10 RB money.

But it does seem like half the top backs either flame out or are constantly injured after getting a big contract ie Mccaffery.

Now he has to ruin the Bills one final time but in the Super Bowl.
Can't count out the Chargers. There was a 5 year stretch or so where they were really good. Brady and the Pat's took them out in the playoffs a couple times.

Some players will go the Brady Way and play for a little less than their market value. That could help.

RB's are a dime a dozen but not literally.

Buffalo, KC and the entire AFCN are also still in the hunt. Even Tennesse could make a run.

It's amazing how much of an impact that Brady's move to the NFC has had.

Lol, in 2019 many were openly advocating that the Pat's move on from Brady as he was holding back the young receivers, like #1 prospect and future Nkeal, by not throwing to them and ruining their confidence. Pat's just had to reload.

Don't know how fans thought the team just had to reload when the star players were all gone or almost done like Edelman, Hightower, Gilmour. With no elite players, it's a rebuild not a reload.

If Mac turns out to be a top 15 QB, it will be a short rebuild but won't know until year 3(Allen came out in year 3 and Dak in year 4). For now, all I see is a game manager. I don't see anything that makes me go wow.

Bucs took 5 years to finally realize that Winston was a bust. Their 20 year rebuild was over when they found their QB in Brady. Pats gotta give Mac the tools and weapons to improve year over year, cause if he ain't the one then it will be a long rebuild not just to next year.

there’s people in here that dude believe in Josh Allen but Mac Jones is the second coming it’s hilarious

I am more worried about the Cardinals than any possible AFC team. This might be one of those seasons where a conference championship is the defacto Super Bowl.

I get what you're saying, but here's the problem with the "Mac turns out to be a top 15 QB" thing:

Brady
Rodgers
Mahomes
Allen
Jackson
Watson
Herbert
Lawrence
Prescott
Stafford
Burrow
Wilson
Murray
Ryan
Cousins

Tannehill
Fields
Lance
Wilson
Mayfield
Wentz
Carr
Hurts
Love
Winston
Darnold
JAG

Quality draftees from future drafts

When Tom Brady‘s NFL career started, Dan Marino owned the NFL passing touchdown record, with 420 in his career. Brady now owns the passing touchdowns record, and is poised to surpass a new landmark as soon as Sunday.

Brady currently has 598 career passing touchdowns, meaning he’s two away from 600 in his career. He could reach that milestone on Sunday against the Bears.

Only three other quarterbacks have surpassed 500 touchdowns: Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508).

Yeah lots of good looking QBs this year.

I look at this list and I can see Mac developing into a Cousins, Mayfield, Wentz, Tannehill type QB. Their teams are happy with a middle of the road QB. However, it might be tough for some Pat's fans after being spoiled with a top 3 QB for the better part of 20 years.

I compared Manning and Brady for many years and one thing no one talks about is why Manning looks like crap come playoff time while Brady still slices top defences. Manning matches up well to Brady except he has a longer release time and his short passes are slow compared to Brady's lasers. The split second slower allows a top defence just enough time to break up the pass.
Mac maybe accurate on his short/mid passes but they are slow like Mannings.

The top 10 QB have special attributes going for them. Unfortunately, I don't see it in Mac. I am hopeful he'll develop into a top 15 but yeah, I'm almost certain top 10 is out of the question. Pat's didn't put a serious effort to trying to keep a top 3 QB, so they shouldn't really complain anyways.
