Thornton: N’Keal Harry Worst Acquisition of Belichick’s Career

The myopia of not playing well and losing sets in, while these were draft failures no team is completely successful in the draft... every team has hits and misses, meanwhile the last two years have shown significant improvement. Some of the aforementioned names take place in the way back machine.

Same GM, so...

Brady's been around the NFL long enough to know a scrub when he sees one. It wasn't just that he sucked, he dogged it in practice too. If you read Harry's NFL draft scout profile, he had work ethic issues at ASU.
Yeah.

Reading is draft profile you really wonder. Can't get separation, in college, and poor work ethic. Why would you draft him in the 1st? I mean other than his block ability :D

Are we going here after 6 games into a contract that will likely span at least 68 games?

We all remember how Gilmore looked after 4-5 games in a Patriots' uniform, right? Give the guy some time. From what I've seen he's engaged, not malcontent, celebrating with teammates, smiling in the locker-room.

Jonnu needs to step his game up and the offense needs to find ways to get him involved. He has plenty of athletic/physical talent, that's for sure. He's the type of player this offense needs right now; ironically, he's a modern, athletic playmaker in space folks are saying this offense lacks.

They need to throw him some drags/slants/flats in space 4-5 times per game, at a minimum. Some red-zone targets in the form of fades and slants/box-outs would be nice to see too.
You underrate the joy some people get from sh!tting on their own team.

This thread is all about that, as are several other threads on the front page today.

It's not as if we all haven't had a chance to register our opinion on Harry, but hey, why not kick him and the rest of the team when they're down?

Ok, after giving Harry a beating, set the target to Smith instead, same thing, squat and dump.

Apologies if I am stepping in at the wrong time re Jonnu Smith. I think I read one of the beat reporters say that Smith had scored several touchdowns in the red zone in one season for the Titans and maybe , just maybe it was the Pats utilisation of him that is wrong. I am not saying this is correct but it maybe worth giving it some consideration. I still think he needs time.

Gronk never had any character issues like Easley did so Bill ignored character red flags as well as injury history.
That’s a fair point. He definitely overlooked quite a bit with Easley and thought his interior pass rush abilities were worth the risk. Just showing that BB will take chances, sometimes early in the draft if he feels the player is worth it.

But at least his [Easley's} issue was about physical health rather than mental and physical ineptitude.

Yep, I was gonna reply the same way: 'Niqued Easily also had motivation issues as well as the medical issues. Stupid pick then; stupid pick now.

I wanted UNLV LT/LG Joel Bitonio... Bill should've wanted him too, especially since he traded away Logan Mankin$ just a couple of months later.

Whaah whaah whaah...

And yes, Jonnu Smith ****ing sucks too.

Smith has a 50Mil target on his back. That’s top 5 TE money.
We’re going to expect at least some impact on offense. And im putting this on BB, he didn’t have to break the bank for this guy.

Any issues with the Gronk pick roughly 10 or so picks later than Easley with previous back surgeries in college?
Gronk was a big risk and I’ll admit I was a little worried about the pick. But if I had to choose between bad back and bad knees, I’ll take the bad back any day.

I was also hoping for Bitonio, but when they drafted Easley, I was psyched. I never thought the Pats would take the chance. I thought they got the steal of the draft, etc. etc. Shows what I know.

Well it is worse than that. Harry was one of the reasons that Brady left. The Patriots (BB and Bob Kraft thanks to the Antonio Brown fiasco) just could not get him the receviers. They still cannot acquire WRs; it is not in their DNA.

Richards will forever be the worst IMO. The kid was thought to go in the 5th at the earliest.

I’ll pick Chad Jackson, but Harry is really pushing him.
