Yeah, context is vitaly important, yet it usually gets overlooked by fans and the analytics geeks. It's heroic as all get out to risk everything on one move.....I think it was a bad decision because of the time left. They only had 0:22 secs w/ 2 TO (I think). Even if they make the 1 yard, they still had 2 yds to goal line. At that point, you can maybe run it once and if you fail you use a TO. Then what, 2 quick passes to try to score? Go for it again on 4th with 0:03 secs? They probably end up kicking fg anyway.
This is the same thing McCarthy did against the Pats but at least it was at the 1/2 yd and they were going for goal not a 1st down.
I would've kicked it in both instances. Take the points.
..... right up to the point where you fail. Then you're just a loser and, quite possibly (as in the case tonight), a needlessly foolish one.
