Could be had for cheap

So, Smith will get $7.62M for the rest of the season unless someone pays him more than Dallas.

And some think that Smith will sign for the minimum. What's the point. Is some team so great that he wants to risk injury and play for no pay?

Collins knows the system and was highly productive last year with 101 tackles. smith is 5 years younger, so i don’t know…seems lime he was released because of his contract.
I don't think so entirely, does not make sense for this year unless they were worried about injury, is sunk money. I think he complained about his role, became strained and DC felt they could not see eye to eye. Anyways, he is probably better than anything we have at ILB at this moment. Tower's legs are gone. Not sure what he did during this year off but he has gone south very quickly. Need some young blood.

We need an injection of speed at LB so it's over to GM BB to get creative and go get both Collins and Smith.

I've always liked him often injured very athletic plays fast and hard.
Not very good against the run but just what we need against the pass.
I'd rather see a run stuffing LB.

I liked Jaylon Smith for a long time and when I saw he was released, I thought "well, never mind about Collins". But then I checked the Cowboys forum, and they really seem to be happy about this. The best thing I read about him is that he was average this year, others just say he sucks. I'm sure Lions fans similarly hated Collins, but this could be a devil you know vs. devil you don't know situation.

Second half of this video has some bad film, really bad... No effort in 2020 at all.

Jaylon Smith available. StB?

If jaylon took a good hard look at our roster, and weighed his future, he would be wise to consider the Patriots at the top of his list, all things considered. I’d take him over Collins.

why not get both...this is probably Hightower's last year anyway

that would be a fun 3rd down package. Both Collins and Smith are nasty Inside blitzers. Both whom can be effective/great (in the past)when dropping into coverage. And Judon, Uche, and Barmore to that package. JC Jackson would be licking his chops, not even worried about his man, just focusing on the incoming interception.

Bill would have to resurrect Smith's career somehow...apparently his play went downhill this year. But man, he's had 120+ tackles every year from 2018-2020.

I feel Bill is one of the best linebacker coaches coaches in the par none. If anyone can do it, it would be him. He’s a really good match In our D if he’s even remotely the player he’s been in the past. Always a “big if” in these cases l, but all things considered (age, cost, potential) I would be for giving it a shot.

I would absolutely kick the tires of Smith

If he somehow goes back to his 19 self. He was insane that season, exactly the type of LB we need, able to cover sideline to sideline

Even if that is longest 2 year gap of human existance, if we can recover him, oh boy

Gilly released.

Jaylon Smith to Green Bay...

And without ANY ****ing compensation to boot.

Oops... Made this post before being updated on the details, correcting now.

My second thought still stands, however.

Bill was the best linebackers coach of all time, and maybe the best young defensive coach the NFL ever seen. Even at 70, his X's and 0's coaching on defense is still top tier and he can still find talent on D. It's drafting, finding talent on offense, specifically drafting wide receivers he really struggles with.

Are you talking bill parcells? I always thought parcells was the best linebacker coach we ever had,

I always thought bb was a great secondary coach and the best defensive coordinator to ever hold that title,
