Belichick had the sane record in 2008 with cassell that Brady had in 2020 with the bucs.Missed the playoffs. That’s not really “winning” with Cassel imo
What point are you trying to make? And yet we have a history of many teams playing poorly the first month of an NFL season, including teams with the greatest QB in the land that go on to improve and win games. Using the first month of games as a barometer is a good way to look foolish over the longterm, just like those that said the team wasn't talented enough in 2014, 2016 and 2018... then with no major infusion of talent those teams went on to win rings.
Execution matters as much or even more than "talent," take a look at this year's Patriots as an example, consider why Bill ever had to mutter the words "we're onto Cincinnati" in 2014.
Teams that execute poorly, make mistakes, create penalties are not always bad teams... sometimes they're good teams playing poorly. The Chiefs right now are much better than a 1-2 team talent-wise, they're playing poorly.
Sacks are subjective. Sometimes they are the result of poor blocking, great defensive play, or poor QB awareness.Who is denigrating Brady? Suggesting football is a team sport and QB's are wholly overrated is not a shot at Tom, it's an opinion based on Nick Foles and Joe Flacco winning Super Bowls or Deshaun Watson being the best statistical QB in the NFL last year and winning 4 games. QB is an important position, you can't win without an O-Line either and will lose close games without a kicker or defense.
Tampa was a better team than New Orleans last year and not just at QB. Don't make me list Tampa's weapons which have three HOF'ers counted among the group, assuming Godwin stays healthy... or point out how Michael Thomas only started five games last year for the Saints.
You mentioned Brady versus Jake Delhomme, here's there numbers from 2004 where they both played 16 games:
Delhomme: 3886 Yards, 29 TD's, 15 INT's, 7.3 YPA, 87.3 QBR
Brady: 3692 Yards, 28 TD's, 14 INT's, 7.8 YPA, 92.6 QBR
Their numbers were almost identical, both players ended up in the Super Bowl in 2003, both players played really well... Delhomme arguably played better than Brady in that game.
2003 Super Bowl:
Delhomme: 323 Yards, 3 TD's, 0 INT's, 113.6 QBR
Brady: 354 Yards, 3 TD's, 1 INT's, 100.5 QBR
The Panthers lost that game because Jake got sacked 4 times, Brady zero times, because Vrabel forced a fumble that Seymour recovered, because Adam V hit a clutch 41 yard field goal... not because Brady was substatially better or even a little better than Delhomme.
So answer this or never mention Matt Cassell again. You mean like Matt Cassell?
The Saints simply played better than the Bucs. The Bucs halfway through the season led the entire league in penalties. They were also dead last in rushing attempts. No team, no matter how talented on offense can afford to be one dimensional. When the Bucs set the single game record for fewest rushing attempts in NFL history and got absolutely shellacked by the Saints they realized this.Sacks are subjective. Sometimes they are the result of poor blocking, great defensive play, or poor QB awareness.
If Tampa was the better team why did the Saints have the better record and home field advantage?
Tamba had better WRs, TEs and QB and a better run def but that's it.
The Saints have a far better secondary and it's not even close and the pass rush is comparable.
It's about matchups. The Bucs def is designed to stop QBs like Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes because they rely on running outside the pocket to buy extra time, the speed of the Bucs takes advantage of that.
The Saints shredded the Bucs the def last year with a way past his prime Brees. The Saints didn't have Taysum Hill in the the Playoff matchup and he gave the Saints big plays against both matchups against the Bucs.
That Saints game was a lot closer than the score showed. The Saints were easily making themselves down the field against the Bucs def in the 4th when they were down by like 3 points when Cook fumbled it.
That fumble saved the game.
Henieki with Redskins also scored at almost will against the Bucs def.
If Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes weren't obsessed with hero ball they would have faired a lot better against the Bucs Def
Yeah because Leonard Fournette is better than Alvin Kamera LMAOThe Saints played better. The Bucs halfway through the season led the entire league in penalties. They also were dead last in rushing attempts. No team no matter how talented on offense can afford to be one dimensional. When the Bucs set the single game record for fewest rushing attempts in NFL history and got absolutely shellacked by the Saints they realized this. Once the Bucs cleaned up their penalties and ran the ball they were the best team in the league and it wasn’t close. Talent was never their issue.
Answer, is Bill winning 3 out of 4 Superbowls with Damon Huard at QB? Yes or no?The Saints simply played better than the Bucs. The Bucs halfway through the season led the entire league in penalties. Once the Bucs cleaned up penalties and started to run the ball they were the best team in the league and it wasn’t close. Talent was never their issue, execution was.
Evans, Godwin, AB, Gronk, Brate, Howard are better than every WR/TE on the Saints… Michael Thomas missed nearly the entire season. Quit sniffing glue.Yeah because Leonard Fournette is better than Alvin Kamera LMAO
Why Huard? What a silly segue…Answer, is Bill winning 3 out of 4 Superbowls with Damon Huard at QB? Yes or no?
Regardless of the what-ifs the standings are what they are. They still missed the playoffs after 16-0 the previous season. What's the difference between barely being out of the playoffs and getting in by 1 game? If the Pats had won 1 more game that year, Bill would be a "winning" HC without Brady? Nonsense.
Regardless of the what-ifs the standings are what they are. They still missed the playoffs after 16-0 the previous season.
16-0 to 11-5 is the same number of games dropped as going from 11-5 to 6-10.
Well if you mean successful as in they didn’t fall off a cliff that year then sure.Yes, but 2008 was a successful season. You can't say it wasn't successful because of one game.
What's your point?Evans, Godwin, AB, Gronk, Brate, Howard are better than every WR/TE on the Saints… Michael Thomas missed nearly the entire season. Quit sniffing glue.
Anytime you miss the playoffs it's not a successful season.Yes, but 2008 was a successful season. You can't say it wasn't successful because of one game.
Because Huard was the backup QB behind Bledsoe if Brady isn't there. Not rocket science. Why Huard? What a silly segue…
Bucs were better than New Orleans last year, that's why they went to the NFC championship game and won the Super Bowl. The Saints weren't very good last year on offense because Brees was old and their weapons outside of Kamara were terrible. They won due to their head coaches scheme and brilliance more than anything. You said New Orleans was the better team, the only reason the Bucs lost to them was because they refused to run the ball, penalties, turnovers... the Bucs played poorly. What's your point?
I said the Bucs had the better QB, WRs, and TEs and Run Def, but had Brady gone to the Saints then the Bucs don't have AB and Gronk. AB and Gronk we're following Brady wherever he went.
The Saints had a much better overall team, it's why the went 13-3 and whooped the Bucs twice in the regular season.
Like you said, the Saints weren't full strength because they had a hobbled Michael Thomas, an injured and broken Brees, and Taysum Hill was out.
The Saints had a comparably good pass rush but a significantly superior secondary.
Saints fans are upset that Brees didn't retire last year so they could have had Brady and definitely would have won a Superbowl last year
This is where we use your mutant powers to peer into alternate universes? Luckily we'll never have to know, he drafted Brady.Because Huard was the backup QB behind Bledsoe if Brady isn't there. Not rocket science.
Bill was getting canned in 2001 after back to back losing seasons.
Not a chance that Bill wins more the 1-2 games with Huard at QB after Bledsoe goes down in 01.
Brady and Bill were the perfect storm that required some luck. Brady was only drafted because he was still on the board in the 6th Rd.
Then the near HOF QB who was beloved by fans and the owner, had to get injured so Brady could show off that he was the much more superior QB
Bledsoe was out 8 weeks and nearly died. This is where we use your mutant powers to peer into alternate universes? Luckily we'll never have to know, he drafted Brady.
Bledsoe also returned midseason, that team also won more than it lost due to a strong run game and defense. Do they win a ring without Tom, no not likely... but they probably win enough where Bill doesn't get fired. Either way... Bill drafted and developed Tom.
