OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

If the rebuild/reload is botched meaning the team has losing seasons this year and next and it is concluded Mac has become Tony Eason 2.0, 3 things will happen.

BB will be fired as GM
BB will be fired as coach
I will support it 110%
First you resign as Chairman and CEO of Team Bill.

Now you're calling for Bill's head unless he has a winning season next year.

Who are you and what have you done with the Dude?

Problem with Peyton and the Broncos was that Peyton couldn't throw deep anymore and Belichick knew it. Brady is a different animal
Very true, Brady will take shots downfield.

They actually took that approach with Peyton in 2013 when that Broncos offense was setting records. The Broncos rushed for 280 yards and 5.8 YPC that game. I think Peyton didn't go over The Cliff (TM) until the year after. Pats somehow lost to Brock Osweiler in Denver in 2015.

I can see Bill having a big enough ego to try and "save face" with this tactic.

I have always maintained winning is THE most important thing to me.

If Biffins and DropKick were hired as GM and HC and won 3 Super Bowls i'd be ok with that.

I'm at peace with the "The Divorce". Didn't like it but I feel I understand it.

I was OK with resetting the cap in 2020 and having a tough year. Didn't like it but I feel I understand it.

I am OK with a rebuild. Been though 1000 times worse with this team.

I was OK with the FA haul in 2021 and the drafts last 2 years

BB has complete personnel control on and off the field.

He is paid $18m a year to put teams on the field to contend for championships.

I have supreme confidence in BB but let's be clear...

I expect this year to be just above .500. I'm ok w/ that. 10-7. 9-8. Whatever.

If this year is bad and next year is bad he needs to go.

It means BB didn't do his job.

There are no sacred cows as Scar says.

Don't need great players to get INTs from rookies. If he throws another 50 times I don't care how bad the secondary has been for Tampa they will get some. Hopefully Brown plays a full game and I think we can safely assume BB will have a better plan than to try and air it out with Tampa.
NE will do what the other 3 teams have done on offence. Lots of short passes as an extension of the run, and try to methodically go down the field. Thus kill clock time to limit the # of opportunities for Tampa to score. Keep the score close where at the end of the game anything can happen.

I agree with most everything.

The only issue I have is how Bill handled last year. FA tagging. Thuney was a waste.

That was cap space that could have been rolled over and used to keep Stephon Gilmore happy this year.

Plus he would have had an extra 3rd Rd pick this year to help improve the roster.

It was like Bill was stuck and couldn't decide to either fully tank or compete.

I was fine w/ Thuney walking. Hes not worth the KC contract. Wynn/Owenu/Andrews/Shaq/Brown is a great line on paper.

What would make Gilly happy? Do you know what he wants? 30 years old and suffered a soft tissue injury when they tried to mke him happy last year and they got burned.

Then they should have traded him last year then.

I don't see it that way. Rebuild still happening. I expect it'll take two years.

Compare the Cowboys and Rams offenses with the Pats and try not to laugh when you say that the Pats can do what they did.

I’m more concerned about the front 7 than the secondary. I already knew the secondary would struggle since they didn’t address those issues; we all know they’re not good, and injuries will make it worse but not to this degree. The guys up front are producing very little.

This is why I always take a high level #1 cornerback at a similar price as a pass rusher like Barrett. A great CB1 limits the offense on every play. Barrett is a guy whose numbers go way up if everyone else is dominating; if not, he makes almost no difference in the game. Not just Barrett but basically every sack artist edge rusher. These guys are so overrated.

The Falcons put up 25 too.

Now we can properly put into context a ridiculous, over the top celebration, though the touchdown pass one from Brees was worse. I hope Brady tosses the ball to the sideline, gives a high five, and calls the next play.

I agree with the lack of production from front 7 but gotta consider that apparently OL holding is no longer a penalty.

Havent the Pats been trying to do that all year?

All the more reason to rush fewer guys, especially when you have two 2-gappers who can cause problems on their own. Bowles is sending too many. Playing right into the hands of the offense looking for one on one matchups on the outside.

Looked like he stopped blitzing in the second half. It didn't work either.

I feel like this and the way that clown McVay was jumping around over a Week 3 game on Sunday were bigger celebrations than when some guys win the Super Bowl.

I know the two have zero in common but I included both because they are clown reactions.

Lol…it’s true. Ridiculous stuff.

Thuney was not worth the contract given him IMO. But my point was not about this past off-season but the year before.

Bill spent 15mil for 1 year of service on a player he was not planning on signing long term, in a rebuild year was a terrible decision.

Gilly wanted a little more money. Spread that 15mil he gave Thuney over 4 years and he could have given that to Gilmore and that would have given him the raise he wanted.

Or that money could have been used other places.

Not sure why you mentioned Andy Johnson.
