OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

For QBs, that's why looking at win totals and playoff success should be looked at hand in hand with stats to determine how good a QB is. Brees had passing yard stat padding in playing from behind a lot. Manning had a lot of TD stat padding with many goal line throws instead of runs.

The kind of game Belichick and the Patriots played with Brady, clean and controlled games, do not lend itself to much shootouts and worthless stat padding.
I hear you. Unfortunately, there are so many contextual pressure points (4th quarter, 2 minutes, down by x, down by y/z, facing a top x defense, etc...), it's a practical impossibility to come up with a comprehensive stat that will both work and be acceptable.

The abomination that is QBR is an example of how such attempts fail.

The Rams are a huge mystery and could be a debacle. Or fantastic.
I think the Rams will be a NFC contender but they have to battle 3 good teams in the same division in the Seahawks, 49rs, and Cardinals. Who will come up on top in that division will be interesting to see.

The huge mystery to me are the Saints and the Pats. Can Winston play smarter and minimize turnovers? How long will it take Mac to get up to speed? I would think that they lean on the running backs and talented tight ends.

All I know is that I want the ball going to Gronk or Brown in situations where they absolutely need a play. It seems Godwin has the Gostkowski yips since the Washington playoff game.
Brady, Gronk and Brown are money. Imported Patriots. Evans looked asleep.

Bucs coach Bruce Arians on Jordan Whitehead on returning from a hamstring injury: “He’s looking really, really good. It’s probably about 90 percent right now. Hopefully we can get him back with these three more (off) days and have him practicing next week.''

Bruce Arians said the Bucs can expect teams to use the Cowboys template of attacking the perimeter of the defense with short passes until they stop it and improve their tackling.

"He struggled mentally to get over it,'' Bruce Arians said of Ronald Jones, who did not get any reps after his fumble.

Sean Murphy-Bunting will undergo an MRI on his dislocated right elbow today. The hope is that he will miss only 3-4 weeks but there’s no prognosis yet. Will talk to coach Bruce Arians at 12:30 pm.

Bruce Arians on Cowboys QB Dak Prescott “I’ve known Dak a long time. I have so much respect for him as a person and as a man and what he did at Mississippi State was legendary. Just a tremendous football player and a tremendous leader. It’s just a shame he had to play Brady.”

Tyler Johnson had just three offensive snaps, Scotty Miller eight. The big three (Evans, Godwin, Brown) got 94 percent of the Bucs' receiver snaps last night.

Bucs used a ton of three-WR and not much double-TE vs. Cowboys. So O.J. Howard had just six snaps and zero targets. Brate had 18 snaps by comparison. May point to him not being completely back from injury, too.

Great find by @SandoNFL -- since the start of 2017 season, only five times have NFL teams won games while having four turnovers and getting only one takeaway. The Bucs account for three of those five -- last night vs. Cowboys, 2018 vs. Browns, 2019 vs. Colts.

This is also true. NFL teams that were minus-3 or worse in turnover margin and gave up 30+ first downs had an 0-45 record all-time before Bucs won last night.

Minus-3 in turnover margin
Committed more than 100 yards in penalties
Allowed 450-plus yards of total offense Until Thursday,
no team in NFL history had ever won when doing a combo of these three things. Enter the Bucs.

Bruce Arians on Giovani Bernard getting involved with the game on the line: “He's our third-down back and our two-minute back."

Game on NFLN.

TommyBrady got triggered when I said a hail mary int by a qb is just luck and shouldn’t count
He's been lurking. What's the O/U on days before he posts here. I say by Sunday.

  • Ha Ha
Reactions: sb1
* Brady looked good throwing while rolling out to the right.
* The D looked like bend but don't break. Allowed a ton of yards but held them to mostly FG in red zone.
* Looks like teams are going to have to put up 30+ pts if they want to beat the Bucs. Not an easy task if D holds them to FGs.
* ST played great. Mikens looks 100% better than last year.
* Great confidence on Succop to have your main man throw 3 balls away to leave it up to him for the winner. I'm ok with that.

Anyone notice how high Brady threw that hail mary? My guess is he listened to Rodgers, who brought up that higher ones are more likely completed (in this case, it was easier to catch…just wrong team.)

Haven't seen a lot of discussion on Brady telling Leftwich "fv*k no" on whatever play he called in at the end.
