Official 2021 Cutdown Day Thread

Only 12 posts for you in the Gronkateers thread yesterday, Deus............are you under the weather?

He’s depressed because he found out that Brady gives no f*cks about Pats fans who have remained faithful to (ie. obsessed with) him and post more in a Tompa thread than they do in any Patriots threads.

ManLove-itis is like Covid, it affects everyone differently.
For me, I outgrew athlete-worship when I hit puberty.

I lost mine in 1981 when Fred Lynn went to the Angels and Carlton Fisk to the White Sox.
The Great Sell-off of 1994…. We were headed to the World Series. Then, unlike in the early 90s, none of the trades worked out. There was only Pedro & Moises Alou left…

This board surprises me. I’d have thought adults would choose to follow the team rather than one man.

The bitterness is deep here.

The Expos team was loaded. Such a shame.

Nothing on this board surprises me anymore.

Such a shame
They were peaking and - at that time - the second half + playoff money would have been necessary.

I’ve been to many games : they were often very well attended in the late 80s/early 90s. Had they been able to survive that era, they’d have « made it ». The landscape has changed dramatically : TV deals are bigger, there are several outlets to compete for sports, the dollar was weak at the time, companies would get behind the team now. Canada lost several pro teams that would « make a go now » (Grizzlies, Expos, Nordiques)

Lol. True dat for most of us.

Although for most of us it's more team-love as opposed to man-love.

That and we have a serious issue....
We all follow sports because we get something from it. I don't follow the team or a player because I think they owe me something personally. I follow because I love their game and watching excellence every week. I never hate players when they leave for this reason because it was never personal to begin with. I have rooted for a ton of ex Pats players when they have left because I loved their game and watching them perform.

Um, you do realize that you post daily on a Pats football forum?

You can’t be this dumb, can you? We post here because we are Patriots fans posting on Patriots fans website in threads about the current Patrots team.

You, among a few others here, still post on a daily basis in a thread dedicated to the new team of a star ex-player who last threw a pass/pick 6 for the Patiots in January 2020 and who quickly put playing here in his rearview mirror, once he began to experience the sun and the superior Botox quality in Florida. If you can’t recognize the difference, you are as hopeless as Deus.

Tommy has clearly moved on, and then some, you really should as well.

Why do you care?

I don't think there is anything wrong being a Patriots fan and a Brady fan. Brady took pay cuts for this team. Brady gave 20 years to this team. Brady brought 6 championships to this team. Who by all indications would have stayed here if offered a below market contract. Yet it wasn't offered. I am not convinced we win a single one without him. Or maybe just one, due the law of averages, assuming BB would have been here that long. He isn't just a star ex player. He is the GOAT. That is something different entirely. Also the knocks on botox and the pick 6 aren't really needed.

There are many Ex patriots players I cheer for whenever they don't play us. Generally, if you come here, If you do things the right way, if you contribute to us winning for years and years, if you take pay cuts to stay here, if you play hurt when you don't have to do help the team and if you are a team first guy.... I will always be a fan of an ex-player like that. Brady has gone above and beyond what any team and fanbase could hope for in their wildest dreams from their QB. As far as I'm concerned, the question we should be asking isn't why people here are cheering for him. It is why people here aren't.

My final thought is this. If you don't cheer for him now, then don't bother doing it when he retires and signs a 1 day deal with the Patriots to go into the HOF that way. That to me would be a hypocritical move. Since pass accomplishments don't matter, why the hell would you cheer for a guy who signed with the team and got cut after 1 day?

I mentioned this to my doctor........so he asked me a series of questions before offering his diagnosis...

1) Are you from New England?
Yes but I moved away years ago

2) Do you dress up like a player on gameday? Jersey, face paint, shoulder pads?
No, No, and No.........I'm an adult. I don’t dress up like Spider-Man either.

3) Does staring at a Tom Brady poster make you question your sexuality?
No....but Winovich's flowing blond mane can be distracting

4) Why do you frequent a Patriots message board?
I seek team news, I like to laugh at the fanboys, and I like to play with the new GIF machine

Diagnosis: "I recommend limiting your interaction with the GIF machine, it can be addictive. The rest of your actions are normal. "Fanboy" mocking is in fact very therapeutic. Now tell me about these Gronkateer sychophants and their jock-sniffing tendencies"

THIS.

Came for the latest cut down news.

Got to read "I am a real Patriots fan because I don't give a shard about the greatest player in history anymore. Anyone who likes Brady is a homo!"

Somehow, being a Brady fan and Patriots fan at the same time is impossible for some folks. Yes, I know Brady doesn't give a crap about you and me. Guess who else give zero phuks about you and me? Belichick, Kraft, the cheerleaders, Dorito Dink, and everyone else involved with the team.
