Oh boy the amount of Cam hate is
Yeah, bud .. uhm, Cam Newton is this teams QB - now and 6 months from now in the playoffs .. Cam is going to absolutely OFF the hook this season, MVP incoming - you and those of your ilk going to be big mad

Third Dynasty incoming and Cam will be the face of this one. You better believe it.
Don't bother. Really don't bother. Folks won't believe Cam is going to be the QB this year no matter what. If you've been to camp - you see whats going on. Mac is having a good camp but Cam has always seemed just a little bit ahead..which is to be expected considering one player is a rookie and the other a veteran.

Some folks just can't accept that. They won't - ever.

You won't win this war here ...not today.

It's hard to tell who is serious here, and who is just really committed to their gimmick. It's also hard to see how anyone could have watched the 2020 season and come out of it seeing Cam as a future playoffs superhero.

If Cam comes out of this league MVP and Super Bowl champ I will be overjoyed, but that's like saying I'd love to win the lottery. Yeah, it's true, but it's such a long shot it's not really worth taking seriously.

Unfortunately, the most likely scenario leading to Cam starting is that Jones is just a terrible bust or injured, not that he's transformed himself as a player and is partying like it's 2015.

It's not that fans think Mac will start.

They want him to earn the job - especially if they finish TC in a dead heat and the 1st team reps accelerate his development.

I respect that and I am rooting for his development.

Some folks just can't accept Cam is having a good camp as well and has been impressive. It's mind boggling. This goes for some media personalities as well. This is purely the reason why it's so damn confusing if you just follow notes/reports to see who is "winning". The bias is REAL. Cam will drop dimes and throw lazers and he'll get a note or 2...mac throws a pretty ball and we get a paragraph. It's real. Folks do not want Cam to do well and EARN his starting spot. That's what he's doing though and I don't know what else to do but just kick up the feet and enjoy the ride.

I'm supremely confident BB will make the right choice but when it's Bill saying Mac is way, way, way ahead of where a normal rookie is at this point, it invites cautious optimism.

Cam is having a decent camp but Mac has been pretty competitive.

Agreed. On all fronts.

Last year cam started out great than caught a case of covid and was never the same. I thought well hes over it so it shouldn't effect him after he came back and sucked. But at the time we didn't know about long haul covid which can affect people for months even longer.I contended last nov dec. that he was injured, maybe he was a long hauler, and affected his decision making, he couldn't process what he was seeing fast enough. I'm not as down on him as others...yet.

I have nothing against Cam. I think hes a decent dude and has represented the NEP well.

Last year he could have been hurt. He could have been a long hauler. He didn't have an offseason because of surgery and was on the cram plan to learn the offense. He absolutely didn't have great talent around him and was not in a position to succeed.

I'm all for giving him the benefit of the doubt but one thing is absolutely clear to me. He is not the future. It's Mac and at the end of TC if it's a photo finish and playing Mac in Sept means he'll be a better QB in Nov and Dec and in 2022, then BB needs to play Mac Week 1.

If Cam outplays Mac in TC, BB should play Cam and i'm cool with that.

I hope Mac starts Week 1 but if he doesn't, oh well.

Last season was last season, but it's also the last time we saw Cam try to run our O against NFL defenses. I would love for Cam to be so good now that Mac Jones has to carry Cam's clipboard for 3 years and then be the cause of another "insider" article as BB attempts to get Kraft to ship him out after his 3rd straight SB to make room for Mac, blah blah blah. There are other things Cam has to do first that I would love to see out of him in a Patriots jersey.

I would love for him to throw more TDs than INTs. I would love for him to pass for 3,000 yards. I would love for him to compile a winning record. just a few of many. There are many levels between that hoped-for but never achieved level, and face of a dynasty. I'd love for Cam to be great, I really would, but to say he stunk it up last year is unkind to decaying vegetables, skunks, and raw sewage.

That said, the only thing more shocking than your [edit - that other guy's prediction who thinks Cam is the face of the next dynasty] would be a prediction that his play would actually decline this year -- not because of rosy evaluations, but because it's such a heavy definitional lift.

But I mean, would love to eat crow and say "my God, he was right," but only, of course, if you are.

Cam is not the future here..the first round investment on Mac confirms that. However he might be the Now and given he is basically playing for his career- he might have a pretty good season..and I wish everyone was just as cool with it as you are - if it turns that way. Beyond the actual players and I'm just bummed folks are pitting themselves against one another over this. After last season we should be singing and dancing that both qbs came to camp as they have.

Agholor seems to come a long way since his Philly days. If the QB play is there, he could have a really nice year.
I liked Agholor when I first saw him and even commented about that here. Then I didn't see him much anymore. I'm glad the Pats picked him up.

Ok whew...don't get me confused with that. I don't think Cam is suddenly going to revert back to his best form. I just believe he can clean up his game with a proper offseason and upgraded weapons to be a a decent qb for us - this year.

I'm a Cam fan as much as I am a Mac fan. If Cam holds off a stud rookie for 1 year to earn one more big contract in free agency for himself that's an awesome story. If Mac beats out the resurging Cam - former NFL MVP to take helm of the Patriots...that's an awesome story. I'm here for both! Whichever happens!

Cam is going to have the QB equivalent season to Randy Moss 2007 ..

45 passing TD - 11 TD rushing, 600 yards rushing

I'm serious. I can't believe how much this forum is amateur hour when it comes to Cam. You don't bet against Cam Newton, you just don't.
I think it's more likely than not that Cam is the starter week 1, and I could definitely see him accruing 11 rushing TDs over the course of a full season, but 45 passing TDs is bonkers. He's going to more than quintuple his 2020 passing TD production?

For me it all comes down to winning and being in the best position to succeed short/long term.

I certainly don't want to lose more games with Mac than win more games with Cam. That is stupid.

If they'll go 9-8 with Cam and 9-8 with Mac....it's Mac.

With no offseason, in a brand new, very complex NE system Cam had 8 TD passing ... Cam would have had the 8 plus 15 more pass TD, so 23, with the same 'weapons' or lack thereof if he wasn't dealing with the new system, no off-season ..

23 pass TD up to 45 is 22 more and with the new weapons, Trent Brown, and a full-offseason I think it will happen

Making up numbers by pulling them out of your ass doesn't change the actual numbers.
