Patriots DT Byron Cowart on Tom Brady's return: 'We ain’t welcoming him back'

I remember that on this forum we generally were laughing at defensive players of other teams that were « challenging » Brady in the press.

Can someone remind me what usually happens in those cases? Oh yeah, Brady destroyed them. I personally don’t want half our defense to motivate Brady more than what he already is.

The Brady > Pats posters here are so f*cking sensitive if someone says or writes something that is not a verbal or typed BJ of Tommy Boy.

Cowart wasn’t disrespecting Brady or talking sh*t, unlike Brady’s dad’s douchey interview with Zo (when he called in to the show on his own specifically to talk sh*t).
Cowart gave an honest answer to a question that the interviewer asked and it was the answer that real Pats fans should want to hear. He didn’t say “We’re gonna put him on the ground” or “We know all of his weaknesses” or “He’ll be seeing ghosts”. It was basically “Listen, we know what he did for the franchise but we want to win. He’ll be treated like any other opponent and we’re gonna try to make him uncomfortable/miserable.” How is that talking smack or even (gasp) “challenging” Tommy Boy.

The outrage about Cowart’s benign comments is
pathetic.

Cry more, as you clutch your Brady jersey.

TB will get a big ovation from the crowd, as he should. Kraft would have to overrule Belichick, if there is a video homage to Brady during the game. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Tributes should be left for the jersey retirement ceremony. I want Brady to be seeing ghosts and turtling by halftime. Hit him early and often. Regardless of his past performance or current role on the team, Cowart’s mindset is perfect and should be shared by the entire roster. The interviewer asked him a question and he answered it well. The Brady ball washers are predictably triggered and upset that he didn’t kiss the ring. Piss off, every last one of you.
You seem excited about this prospect of this happening. Would you watch that NFL films video with popcorn or would you need that dominant hand for something else?

Can someone please acknowledge what a great Patriots fan this guy is!?! He is a much bigger fan of the Patriots than anyone who still likes Brady!

I would hate it if the Bucs win. But odds are they will. Outside of Super Bowls and the Deflategate Revenge tour, I can’t imagine Brady being more motivated than he will be for that game. I do believe the Pats will have a top 5 defense, hopefully they get after Brady.

I found it interesting that the Chiefs beat Buffalo in the AFCCG by attacking Allen, they were in his face all game, yet in the SB, they hardly attacked Brady. Brady is the toughest QB in NFL History, he can burn you if you blitz him too much. But if you can get after him like the Giants did, and like the Broncos did in 2015 AFCCG, you make it much tougher for him.

Yup, pound Brady into the dirt....and then we can welcome him back later to retire his number and induct him in the Pats HOF...in 2-3 years.

I will never welcome another player with another team's jersey to Gillette. I'd boo my own mother if she was scoring a touchdown for the Jets due to a Make a Wish Foundation event. Brady? Boo. Vinatieri? Boo. Gronk? Boo. DON'T CARE

Huge Brady fan and I always will be. I want him to win and will be rooting for him every game except for 2, Week 4 and if all goes well Superbowl 56 against our Patriots.

I think the new and hopefully improved Pats defense can hold their own against Brady and that offense. I can see them forcing Brady into a mistake or two. The bigger problem for the Pats will be Cam Newton throwing the ball against literally the same defense that just held Mahomes under 10 points for the first time in his career. Yikes

Well, our offensive tackles should be LEAGUES better than what Mahomes had in that Super Bowl. But I agree, especially early in the season with so many new skill position faces, it's a tall order to ask this offense to be gelled enough to keep up with a Bucs team that is bringing back all of its starters.

@Patsgofor4 has won Patriots fan of the month for having the courage to call out all those Patriots fans that have the audacity to still like Brady

A well earned award for a HUUUUUUUUGE and LOYAL Pats Fan! He tirelessly exposes all the unpure, Brady loving JERKS lurking on here and PRETENDING to be real Pats fans. What he does is the equivalent of playing QB with two torn MCLs.

Angel, we don't have to explain or rationalize that we are still Brady fans or have to go out of our way to declare that we really do want the Patriots to beat Brady to prove to lame Brady whining haters that we are true Pats fans. We know we're Pats fans. Screw them.

Yeah, but no. Liking is one thing. Hero worshiping, however, is something very different. There are a shocking number of posters here who still cannot move on after the loss of their God and who continue vacillate between mourning and anger. The outrage by some over Cowart's benign comments is a reflection of this.

“You have the gall to mention Tommy’s name without just saying that he is the GOAT and will always be the GOAT?! Did you actually say that you are going to try to make him miserable when he comes to Foxboro as an opponent!”

MOVE THE F*CK ON OR PISS THE F*CK OFF.

PS. To those here who fit that description above: Yes, I am a better fan than you are, as are many posters here who appreciate what Brady did for 20 years but moved on quickly, because we only care about the Pats current and future success and their ex-QB is no longer relevant in that regard. Deal with it.

Just checking in to see who has gotten offended.

Hahahahahaha. Now that’s funny.

PS. It’s exaggerate.
My name is PatsWSB47 and im a terrible speller. Admitting your faults is the first step. That works for irrational insecure Brady haters too.

Cowart has one sack in two years. I don’t think he’ll get close enough to even breathe on Brady.
COVID breath maybe - six feet is probably reasonable distance Cowart could achieve as a pass rusher.

Report: Patriots to hire Terrell Suggs, Joey Porter as linebackers coaches
And Aaron Schobel...Who?? Guy who sacked Brady the most. 12 of his 78 career sacks came versus Brady. Helped playing NE twice a year as a Bill....

Pretty obvious the posters who don’t give a crap about the Patriots and only care about Brady.
I don’t think there’s anyone here in that category. Or at least not that I’ve read.
