N’Keal Harry Requests Trade

Semantics. We gave him the $5 mil so he would show up.
He is going to hold out this year if we don't give him more money or a new contract.
Too early to make that call.

I would trade him to Arizona for Andy Isabella. Two busts from the same draft.

While I'd rather have Isabella than Harry, I'd rather have a late round draft pick than Isabella...especially with the Pats' current TE/RB driven offense and a good pool of WRs fighting for the last WR spot.

There are many ways to skin a cat. You can have structure and discipline and also be flexible especially with aging vets who are your top players. I will never understand why Bill jerked around with Brady in this regard. You never want "culture" or a "system" to supercede common sense and appreciation.

yea id agree, if a player even had the balls to mention anything about me giving Brady or Gronk a day off, I'd just say "They're the 2 greatest players to ever play at their position and have 11 super bowl rings between them. When you get to that level of success, you can take days off too. Now go run a f***ing lap"

No one with common sense would argue or think its a big deal that the GOAT Brady and Gronk are able to get some exceptions to the rule.. they're legendary players

Explosive slot receiver. He would be the fastest receiver on the team. After Edelman retired, who is our slot receiver ? Gunner ? Meyers ? Meyers is a decent possession receiver, but Isabella adds speed and quickness. This offense is explosive when it has two good slot receivers (Edelman & Amendola). Isabella can take a 5 yard bubble screen and take it 20+ yards, and even the distance. I think Arizona never used him correctly, Isabella is a great fit for the Pats as a slot receiver.

I'd prefer a group of good WR's fighting for the spot

lol... The point is he showed up. thats not "semantics"

And so what? He wants more money... its not a new or novel story in the NFL... If he & the Team can work a deal, then there is no issue.

Harry for Isabella should be a done deal.

I believe that Hall is actually faster than Isabella, but he is an exceptional athlete.

My opinion, based on the little that I've seen of him and his stats, is that he doesn't play much larger than his small stature and I see him only as a moderate upgrade to Hall. I wouldn't be upset if they did trade for him, as he does have some upside and skillsets that could benefit the Pats, but I'd rather bank the draft capital and maybe flip it near cut downs for a corner or other position of need.

There’s no guarantee that you could get a receiver of Isabella’s quality with the most likely 6th round pick you’d get for Harry. Cardinals drafted Rondale Moore pretty high, which makes Isabella available. Imagine a Cole Beasley but with 4.31 speed and a 36.5 vertical.

I imagine a "Cole Beasley" who averages 15 yards/game. With those stats he would be run out of town by the same crowd now going after Harry (although Isabella might at least think better than asking for a trade after not doing anything for two years).

Isabella is a bust - what great quality is that? If he couldn't learn something from Larry Fitzgerald, who on the Patriots is going to take him under their wing?

Isabella's 6.95 3-Cone is unimpressive for such a small guy. Tre Nixon has a 6.81 3-Cone. Isabella's strength is speed, and as noted by @WinstonSmith, Hall is faster.

I don't see Isabella in the slot (not shifty and too slight of frame), and not sure what he adds that Zuber, Nixon and Hall don't already provide. Zuber and Nixon are fast, more shifty than Isabella, still learning and growing, and might develop into solid players.

I hope we extend him. We have gobs of money with Jones on his rookie contract. You are supposed to pay your best defensive player when you aren't paying your Qb yet.

Bill got too married to the system and forgot the system is always made up of great players.

It was a sign of where he was at mentally, and that was not a good place.

If the Pats had said, "Okay, we've got three shiny new WR (rookie) toys," do you think that would have made a difference?

Asking seriously - and I'll add, if it were me in that room the weeks before the 2019 draft, I'd have asked Brady which rookie WRs he wanted, in order, then drafted the highest available with picks 1 and 2. I also would have signed Brady to whatever and however long a contract he wanted way back when. He should never have left New England, and if that meant s a couple of bad years, so be it. "You want to play to 45, Tom? Okay, show me the numbers that gets it done...."

Yes, I would have done that. But then, I'm still traumatized by watching Orr limp around in a Blackhawks jersey.

But that's in the past and I'm still a fan of the team above any player.
I look at the Brady situation as a Ruth type blunder, where the team messed up more than anyone else. Losing Brady could be considered worse because the Pats got nothing in return. At least the Sox got some cash.

Isabella is a bust
While I have no issue with Patriots reclamation projects (which are probably 70/30 "don't work"/"work out" as a guess), even if Isabella did end up coming around - what his ceiling Damiere Byrd who the team already had and wasn't really useful/serviceable?

Chad Jackson was bad. Couldnt spell C - A - T if you spotted him the C and the T.

Maroney was bad. When he was not dancing, Koolaid used to talk about watching cartoons and chowing on Lucky Charms breakfast cereal.

But Harry wins the Oscar for "Worst Belichick pick of all time" Most games you cant even tell that he dressed and is actually on the field.

If the Pats trade Harry how much would you take for him?
I'd take a pack of Funny Bones and a cold glass of milk.

I think everyone is on board throwing a few more bucks at Gilly. Just needs to be done wisely.
