So the Bucs are opting out of voluntary OTAs because it's "unsafe due to covid" but then having private workouts with Brady? How is that safer?

Or how were the Patriots workouts in california safer?

Just shows the NFLPA boycotting the OTAs is one big joke.
Vaccines only recently became available for people the age of NFL players*. In a couple of weeks the players should be fully vaccinated if they are smart. Then it will be safe to have private workouts with Brady

*Except for Brady :p

I agree with that for sure. The excuse they are making is legit.

No, it's not. But it's got a patina of legitimacy that can fool the rubes, and that's all that matters, since it's largely just a PR move.

If Brady can’t currently throw im not too worried about the other members of his team not going to early OTAs which are glorified conditioning tests.

I mean a lot of it is corporate grab ass but it really seems that Brady and Goodell are in a pretty cordial relationship now. Honestly I think Brady actually holds more of grudge over Belichick going “go ask Tom about the balls” and we know for a fact from the released emails that Brady’s friend outright told him that Belichick just threw him under the bus and dropped the whole mess in his lap. He definitely wasn’t happy with Kraft either after his whole Best Thing for the 32 stuff but behind the scenes I think Kraft really tried for a long time to repair that relationship and I don’t think there was any ill will by the victory over Atlanta.
This fits into my belief that Tom was sick of the crap that goes along with playing for the Patriots. None of it happens to any other pro sports team. Twenty years of seeing teammates go off to other cities and be free...yes, not winning but free to play and live away from all the crap.

Now, Belichick is Belichick and there's plenty to support that he didn't have anyone to throw to. Kraft...his tone deafness to the uniforms goes hand in hand with his complete agreement and endorsement of the 'laughingstock' propaganda of the team prior to his purchase. "Yep, we sucked." Even though we did not. The 60's, 70's and 80's teams were better than the 90's team. Coleman decides to ignore the rules in the Snow Bowl and Troy Brown's career is ended in the 2003 preseason and you've got zero titles today.

Curious how both Brady, and Kraft, and Belichick who seems cordial too, all seem to get along with Goodell.

Oh well, Bill Russell apparently was close with David Stern...

Also, saying the Ravens needed to learn the rules after the divisional round win was also not one of his finer moments and that kicked off Harbaugh's deflategate nonsense.
No way to blame Tom for that. Only way to prevent it would be to muzzle him after every game.

I liked that moment. It was funny as hell. The fact that deflategate even happened exposed harbaby, Shytdell and the league for what it is. A greedy bunch of billionaire bytches and a punk ass puppet.

I'm glad that Deflategate happened because it ended with Brady shoving it right up the league's ass in dramatic fashion. A historic comeback followed by the puppet getting booed right off of the stage.

By the way, Brady is still shoving it up their asses.
The way the teams should look when they play this year - but they won't:

I don’t think he’ll actually come close to accomplishing what Brady has done because football is simply too unpredictable of a sport and Brady’s way of playing the position is the only way to actually have as long of a career as he has (you can’t continue to make circus sideways throws across your body into your 30s) but Mahomes is the only QB currently in the league who has the potential to actually establish himself as one of the greatest to ever play the position. He’s already shown more in 3 years as a starter than Rodgers has in 12.

if I had to guess what things will look like 10 years from now Brady will be on his own level, below him Montana will be on his own level, and below that will be Mahomes, Elway, and Peyton. You can argue about where the great QBs who primarily played in the pre Super Bowl era should rank on your own time.

The problem for Pat, Patriot fans and the rest of the league is that Brady made getting to and/or winning the super bowl easy. It's not of course but because Brady has never been a physical specimen or an athletic freak but the ignoramuses think anyone who's more gifted in those areas will be able to do it. In reality it's a chess game and Brady is the chess master. It's what's between the ears that matters most.

No, sorry. It's who can run around all over the field and then chuck the ball somewhere. The likes of Brady, Manning, and Brees no longer count in the NFL.

I learned this during the run up to this draft.

You are disagreeing with me by agreeing with me. Interesting move.

Had Brady retired after winning#5, it's entirely possible that Mahomes wins 3 in a row, since Brady stopped Mahomes the other 2 years.

No, I'm saying that the excuse is not legit, but acknowledging that it'll fool some people. That's true of even most terrible excuses offered by large companies/groups nowadays, because we've got a huge population that has largely decided that thinking is too hard a thing if it's not related to their jobs.

Yes but it's only a PR move because people can say its legit.

PR is a funny thing that way.

If you are saying it's not sincere that I fully agree with, because a lot of Bucs players were at Bruce Arians charity event, indoors, and not wearing any masks.

The idea that the players actually care about Covid is laughable.

They are just using it as an excuse, it's legit because they aren't being fined, or having any kind of negative consequences.

They can't get fined for skipping the voluntary stuff, and whether or not they suffer negative consequences is going to depend upon individual team/coach reactions. Imagine being a borderline vet who decides to skip the voluntary stuff, while a bunch of borderline rookies are in working their asses off.

Now imagine being the team's coach...

As for the rest, yes, it now seems to me as if we're saying pretty much the same thing.

An attempt to make Mahomes the new prototype will lead to handful of spectacular busts, starting with the Jets and Zach Wilson.

I just find it wild that these people actually think the career ceiling is lower for a Tom Brady than for a Mike Vick. It's as if all these decades of professional football never happened.

For QBs in the NFL, I think athleticism - specifically speed and elusiveness - almost always causes more problems than it solves. And if that isn’t true immediately, just give it some time.

wait? what a bout the gaa gaa gooniest bestest incredible "did you SEE that run!!!!!!!!!(in another loss") QB alive today???

it's over pal you have to be very lucky (health wise) which Brady has been lucky and obviously smart about and get to 8 and even then TB still has 2 playoff wins over you 1 in your house.
