The Texans and Taylor have agreed to a one-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The 31-year-old Taylor has played his entire eight-year NFL career with the Packers. He was usually a starter when healthy, but he’s been riddled by injuries, playing in just three games the last two years, thanks to a torn biceps in 2019 and a torn ACL in 2020...
Damn...
No reason why Harmon should not have re-signed here...None.
Some folks here are worried about our long-term prognosis at Free Safety...Apparently Bill isn't one of them...
Sign BOTH of these Beasts Bill, especially local dude & legacy Mo Hurst, our 3-Tech DT of the Future! He's WAY better than Monty Adams & Lord Byron Coward already, and probably wouldn't be far behind Godsmack & Lanky Hank either, especially when costs are considered...
As for Arden Key, hey our pass rush feckin sucks, so why not give him a shot...I'm sure he won't be offered much more than the minimum...
If Hurst was any good, why would the Raiders release him? He wasn't expensive - cripes, he wouldn't even count in their top-51, I bet.Sign BOTH of these Beasts Bill, especially local dude & legacy Mo Hurst, our 3-Tech DT of the Future! Not to defend the player, or Captain's position, but.....If Hurst was any good, why would the Raiders release him? He wasn't expensive - cripes, he wouldn't even count in their top-51, I bet.
Both Hurst and Key qualified for the proven performance escalator, bumping their 2021 salaries from $920k to $2.183M. The Raiders only had $2.6M in cap space before those moves, so now they can afford to sign their draft class. If Hurst was any good, why would the Raiders release him? “Hurst showed flashes but struggled to get consistent playing time. His eight sacks in three seasons rank second on the Raiders in that span and his pressure rate ranked 11th among defensive tackles with at least 10 pass rushes in 2020 and sixth in 2019, according to SportsInfo Solutions.”If Hurst was any good, why would the Raiders release him? Hurst might be interesting Couisn, but............He has ankle and calf injuries and was due a raise. The problem is he is small for what we do. He might be 270 LBS and he is 6'2". Basically Hurst was a fifth rounder because of heart conditions so he was not a high pick. He also was too small to stop the run. Is he worth a third down rusher niche from the interior? Eh.........I think that might be Wise's job.“Hurst showed flashes but struggled to get consistent playing time. Definitely worth a waiver claim, IMO, but some other team will probably snap him up first. He may not be a good fit for Gus Bradley’s (Raiders new DC) system.

The Raiders needed CAP room to sign picks. Someone had to go.
"Head Coach Jon Gruden is famous for souring on players who miss extended time due to injury. In Maurice Hurst’s case, availability wasn’t his best ability.
Key will likely be most remembered for grabbing Ryan Fitzpatrick’s facemask at the end of the Dolphins game in 2020 that put Miami into field goal range to win the game, crushing the Raiders’ playoff chances once and for all".
With the lack of roster talent, Nick C. should sign them both to the no-name WTH Texans.
