Belichick rated #1 of all GM's in Expensive FA Signings

You're the poster who likes to call everyone names and then cry to mods when you see something you don't like. This thread is proof of that.

Since I didn't call you a name (you missed that) I'm sorry reality hurts your feelings.

At least you attempted to support your opinion with facts.

Your problem was your facts were zero.

I definitely think it's up for debate (I mean, very few things aren't), but part of what allows him to be a great coach is he fills his team with coachable players. In other words, players he thinks he can coach within his schemes. Sometimes that doesn't work out (understatement) in cases like Jordan Richards. That's a guy that mentally was perfect for what Belichick wants to have, but he underestimated how limited Richards was physically. That was a big miss.

His overall record as a GM has some holes. But the common line is that BB the coach makes up for how bad BB the GM is, and I think that's too black and white. BB the coach is able to make up for having less overt physical talent because he fills his team (whether by draft, FA, or trade), with players he thinks he can coach up. You really can't separate the two into mutually exclusive characters.
Great post, right on the money.

Feel free to name the contemporary Coaches and GM’s who have accomplished more than Belichick? I’m really looking forward to it.

This, right here. Every "Belichick is garbage" comment should be accompanied by the name of the guy we should have instead (as HC, and as GM).

The Patriots have had such ludicrous success that coverage of them is skewed. Analysts go out of their way to be negative and push the "dynasty is over" narrative (the latest narrative they tried, not too long ago? "Patriot Way was all Brady, nobody is gonna sign with them!" ...... um..... okay). It's heartbreaking to see how many fans here have fallen for it.

But Bill is more than the coach since he's also the GM. He has full control over the roster, so he is responsible for who is on the field. He didn't inherit any players, or works for a meddling owner. His decisions on and off the field led directly to the personnel he put on the field.

He signed Cam Newton. He didn't sign Mariota, who was available last year and many here believe is the answer
A. Mariota got a much bigger contract than most expected last off-season and the patriots did not have a cap space to compete with the Raiders offer. Given that he decided to take a pay cut with the Raiders this off-season and successfully got them to agree to a no trade clause, rather than allow them to release him and find a team on which he has a legitimate opportunity to be the starter, there is very little chance that he would have had the balls to sign with the patriots and become their starter the same off-season that Brady and the Pats broke up.

Cam didn’t work out last year but his career success had far exceeded that of Mariota, as recently as 2018, and he is a far better leader in the locker room and on the field, by all accounts.

2. Nobody here thinks Mariota is the “answer”. He has been discussed as potentially the best of the available stop-gap QBs.

You don't have to participate.

It's not like you provide any worthwhile insight or intelligence on anything that benefits anyone with IQ.
Sure buddy. 60% of the time, I'm right every time.

Just like the rest of the “all negative, all the time” a-holes on this site, when you call him out on his BS, asking him to back up his post, he suddenly is nowhere to be found.

It’s the famous BB worshippers cult, started by matt chatham. BB can do no wrong. He walks on water. The BB worshippers even have their own group text where they crap on posters who don’t agree with their opinions
Notice how quiet the board was each week Tom was taking down the Redskins, Saints, the regular season MVP and then destroyed the former Super Bowl Champs. It was their worst nightmare and needed some time off.

They slowly came back to the board once the season ended and had a rough time in many threads, complained to the mods (allegedly) as they were taking a beating and then got threads shut down.

Now that media stopped dragging Bill through the mud and are now they praising him, Team Bill is back in full force. They got their groove back.

And guess what, we'll be able to look at some of these choices a season or two from now and find fault in them.

Heck, many already are, because they want to be "first in" with their "hot take".

I feel sorry for Agholor, he really doesn't stand a chance of being accepted here unless he's stellar on the field, just because of the contract he signed.

Agree totally.

People seem to forget the easy thing for BB to do early in the 2000s was to stick with the number one overall draft pick QB and that he took tons of :poop: for going with the unknown 6th rounder.

Now he doesn't stick with that same 6th rounder till the end of his career and it's time to get out the pitchforks, because, damn it, I'm smarter than BB!

Now we have a bunch of fans that have checked out on being Patriots fans that hang out here because they don't have the balls to find a new home in a Tompa forum.

They have their favorite player evah playing on a talent laden team that just won the Super Bowl and are bringing back almost the same team for next season.

They could just to to a Tompa forum and be happy, but nope, they are gonna stick around here and make sure their glowing red butthurt is on display for all to see.

They know they aren't Pats fans any more but choose to keep spreading their toxic energy here, a true 'burnt earth' strategy.

If your inner voice keeps screaming I can't stand what BB and Kraft are doing, why not find a new team to root for, especially when there is such an obvious choice available to you?

Go find a team that does the things you do like, instead of sticking around here and *****ing about things this team has done or is doing.
Have to wonder who the board will be rooting for in the TB vs. NE game. I think we're a lot of people's second-favorite team... but (sob sob) it's not their fault, it's BILLLLLLL'S... if he'd only listened to them...

The GOAT QB's team went 7-9 because the previous non GOAT QB threw over 30 INT's and 8 or 9 pick 6's in 2019. Obviously, you have completely missed the most important fact because the GOAT QB won in the playoffs as a game manager. You missed that completely but you are consistent.

I doubt you study military history but Brady was like Monty at El Alamein....just don't screw up like the other British generals.

Your analogy is a complete zero.

Go put the GOAT QB in Jacksonville and have him go 11-5 and win a Super Bowl and we can talk.

His analogy is a very good one.

Military history?? Your posts resemble a General Paulus approach. An exercise in futility. Sure you'll win some pyrrhic victories but in the end the environment and the elements will overwhelm you. You're doomed to be be banned. All that because you wanted to ruffle your psittacosis ridden feathers. Congrats.

.....and then you wake up.

I'd give your post an A+ but you left out Napolean invading Russia in dead winter followed by Hitler doing the exact same thing 200 years later... :excited:

wow...you got all that from the ab signing and subsequent release. i'm impressed. what i find curious is how none of these stories came out until he signed with the pats and as soon as he was released they suddenly disappeared. what happened to all the investigative reporting that was going on while he was with the pats and most of those stories came from the time he was in pittsburgh. so the press there definitely covers for the team ie the under reporting of the team dr and steroid purveyor rydze scandal. i'm curious if he had to testify in front of congress like all those yankees had to.
Ok, so I am going to go against my own best judgement here and just outright state that you are wrong! The issue is not that I disagree with you, which I do, the issue here is that you are simply wrong! Fair warning, I am a lifelong, spoiled, homer fan who loves Ray Bourque, Mo Vaughn, the Chief, Tedy Bruschi, Julian Edelman and hates f@***** nonsense!!!

The stories were there before AB ever became a Patriot, they were there during his Steeler AND Raider days, and they continued after he was released by the Patriots. As Patriots fans we may have simply stopped paying attention to the stories, but they were there all along and that hardly validates the fact that the stories "disappeared"! AB was a disaster!! A terrible, desperate, pointless, undeserving signing and it bit us in the @** for one whole year and lead to what we all knew was going to happen anyways!!! GET OVER IT

For every AB there is a Stephone Gilmore, for every A Haynesworth there is a T Washington, for every Chad Ochocinco there is a David Patten, for every N'Keal Harry there is a Deion Branch, for every Sony Michel there is a James White, for every ______ there is a Malcolm Butler, for every R Mallett there is a T "bleeping" Br@dy !!!! WE ARE THAT LUCKY

There is no reason to rationalize every BB's mistake to prove he is the GOAT Coach/GM/Dog daddy any more then there is to question every TB interception in hopes of proving he is only an afterthought QB when compared to Manning (either one), Rodgers, Mahomes, whomever!!! WE ALL KNOW WHO THE GOAT IS

Any argument that involves dissing of the press for doing there job is beyond @ssine! We don't win headlines, we win championships!! We don't win off-season's, we win Super Bowls!!! And we do it better than any city/state/team!!!! GO PATS

Haha. Great minds think alike. Paulus was the General who led Hitler's army into Stalingrad.

I liked Algholor the first time I saw him and even mentioned it here back then. I think he'll be fine.

Bill did stick with the number one overall draft pick in 2000 and 2001. Mo Lewis took care of that.

My favorite Pats player evah is Troy Brown and I've been a Pats fan longer than many here have been alive and I've seen all of them.

It's kind of funny seeing you label Tom Brady as that 6th rounder. Your showing him the same lack of respect that the Pats did when they let him go for nothing.

Bill isn't perfect, and letting Brady walk without a replacement has shown to be a huge mistake. Try and imagine how much better the team's chances would be this year with all those FA pickups and the GOAT QB.

Every fan has a right to complain if they don't like something the team has done. After all, we pay the freight.

No, it actually isn't.

Ohhhhhh psittacosis!

I loved @Tony2046’s use of pyrrhic as well. Takes me back my dad’s (mandated) vocabulary sessions, in preparation for the SATs. They seemed like pure torture back then as a 16-year-old, especially during sunny summer days, but I appreciate them now (miss you, dad).

Psittacosis is bad pickles, as one of my attendings used to say during training. A few years ago I put a feeding tube in a poor lady who was infected by her pet bird(s) and ended up on a ventilator with severe pneumonia.
