  1. A lot of people had Mahomes and Watson above Trubisky.
  2. A lot of people thought Tua would struggle as a rookie, and a lot of people have moved off of Tua post-injury.
  3. Jackson is not the best QB in his class.
  4. A lot of people had questions about Mayfield, both for his attitude and his play, and would have passed on him as the first QB

Again, the pumping of Simms' tires is mostly just hype, not substance. Don't fall for it.
Yes that is true but who had all three fairly right in consecutive years. It is not the individual assessments, anyone can get lucky one year. But who else had a similarly closer prediction for 3 years in a row?

To add to this: he constantly fluctuated in his rankings (which is his prerogative), but the only ones that get quoted are the ones that make him look the most prescient. Go back far enough, and his hit rate falls off, even if you use the most favorable rankings.

Simms certainly has more NFL experience than the average viewer, but that doesn't make him good, let alone infallible.

The result of MIA trades:

1. 2021: drop from #3 to #6;
2. 2021: drop from #123 (mid 4th) to #156 (top 3rd 5th);
3. 2022: gain a 3rd;
4. 2023: gain a 1st.

Given 4 QBs likely go in top 5 picks, & CIN probably takes Penei Sewell at #5, MIA gets a chance at:

1. Top TE - Kyle Pitts
2. Top WR - Ja'Mar Chase
3. Top CB - Farley or Horn
4. Top LB - Micah Parsons

Then they pick again at #18.

Is it too early to say Phins won the draft?

Normally i would say yes but if they get a talent like sewell or pitts at 6 and a solid Player at 18 with two second rd. Picks and a acquired a 2023 first rd. Pick but still such playmaker i think they can easily be top 3 of draft

A brittle WR going to a team that demands heavy blocking from its WRs? Seems a bit counter to the odds.
I expect they are realizing that when they get down by 10+ points they need a receiver who is a better receiver than blocker.

Draft scouting for QBs is clearly shifting away from emphasizing their resume in college to purely around if they fit a specific athletic and measurable mold that projects to potentially being a superstar with the right coaching. It’s very baseball and I’m not sure that I like it.

A bunch of people here, I'm sure, and this is just one site.

It’s also very Covid

Simms has Jones as his third best QB prospect in this year’s draft. I don’t agree with it, but that’s probably why he’s saying that.

That having been said, he’s made some eyebrow raising rankings before and hit on them (particularly 2018 when he ranked LJ and Allen as his top 2 QBs above Baker).

Really hope Joe Douglas is looking at the QB already on the roster. If anyone saw Wilson's pro day yesterday, or heard the hype, they heard about one of his throws going left and throwing deep right. The crowd there erupted in cheers.

Now in reality (with an oline as bad as the Jets oline)...

People talk about Riddick as if he's a super serious mega genius, and are aghast that he doesn't have a GM job in the NFL. I hear Riddick speak and I understand why he doesn't have a GM job in the NFL.

Or since when is a pro day in shorts the same as a game with a 300+lb dude trying to rip your head off, and the WR being defended?

Great observation, and I agree with your reservations.

What? You mean Wilson didn't have to look at the safety...err, broomstick?

Hey, JetsFan, what are you hoping the Jets do? Wilson?

Trade down a bit and grab a couple of players and roll with Darnold?

Stay there and take a true blue chip?

0. Watson. But yeah that's looking cloudy at the moment.

Reality:

1. Keep Sam and trade back. Hopefully still in top 10, and take Pitts or best available RT. Get extra first rounders in 2022 n 2023.

2. Wilson. I mean if we didn't have a former 3rd overall pick still waiting to play in at least a below average legit NFL offense... sure I'd be psyched about drafting Wilson. Though I'd still be concerned about him being a one-year-wonder on BYU facing ZERO competition.

So yeah. Keep Sam. Load up on picks, draft Pitts, and at least 2 olinemen early (23rd and 34th overall), and finally give Sam a legit chance.

If Sam still sucks, three 1st rounders next year to move up and grab the next hyped up QB. But hey, if he really sucks, won't have far to move up.

Everyone but Saleh, who was too busy running behind the bleachers to jerk off.
