What starting job?

Well I'm sure if Mariota or Trubisky are confident in their abilities they could think they could beat out cam newton for starting job in new england

Supposedly the Patriots showed interest in Mariota

Oh Darnold definitely sucks but if you get out of a stat sheet and watch them play it’s obvious newton sucks even worse.
Entitled Boston fans suck.

Is Cam an elite QB, no. Can he excel without talent around him to help, no. How many QBs can excel when playing with trash?

Name me 20 other QBs who would have put up 20 total TDs last year in 15 games in the Pats offense?

Because when you say sucks, that indicates he is a bottom 5 QB that shouldn't be starting on a team.

Now if your argument is Cam is an average QB I would agree

Mariota has been under contract. You can contact another teams player who is under contract and tell them you will offer them a contract if they get out of the one they are in.

I wouldn’t say he was great the whole year - but that one pass was awesome! especially because of who it was against. Lol
I was being tongue and cheek. He was great for my fantasy team. Dude couldn't throw a crossing route to save his life

No my argument is he sucks. No way he should be starting on a team. Many backups are better at this point.
And spare me the “total touchdown” crap.
A QBs who keeps it himself from the 1 isn’t any better than the guy who hands it off instead.
20? How about 40?

Allen
Darnold
Fitzpatrick
Tua
Roethlisberger
Jackson
Mayfield
Burrow
Rivers
Maybe Brissett.
watson
Minshew
Tannehill
Mahomes
Henne
Carr
Mariota
Maybe lock
Herbert
Maybe Taylor
Smith
Prescott
Dalton
Maybe Jones
Wentz
Maybe hurts
Rodgers
Cousins
Trubisky
Foles
Stafford
Brady
Brees
Winston
Hill
Ryan
Bridgewater
Garopolo
Mullens
Goff
murray
Wilson

Edit: did this fast, may have missed some

Well Bill clearly disagrees with you. He gave Cam 14mil when he could have had half the guys on the list for less.

So either Bill sucks and is isn't the clear GOAT or maybe your opinion is wrong. I'll let you decide that for yourself

Didn't see the pay listed anywhere before, apologies if this has already been posted:

Now that he has redone his deal I would love to see the Patriots send a 4th to the Raiders for Mariota. And I would still take a QB in the first if one of the top 5 were still there.

Good deals. Isn't Davis technically a "WR" like Slater? I am thinking Brandon King may not make the roster.
Davis is technically a "Safety", not that the official position matters for ST players

He didn’t give newton 14 mill.
He gave him 5. And stated through the media he was still pursuing QBs. He has been linked to every single QB in the market.
Newton is here over some of those guys who suck almost as bad because he was almost free and no one else wanted him. He may actually start the season, but it’s not because he is the best qb option, it’s because when belichick drafts a qb in round 1 he can out his and McDaniels attention on getting the qb ready to okay and not have to teach the system to another placeholder guy. The suck you know is less distracting than the suck you don’t.

Also, the f#ck???? Is it really your position that every decision belichick has ever made has to be right or he isn’t the GOAT? Have you lost your mind?

Very few of those QBs were available by the way.

Don’t feel bad. Most of us thought that it was a $14m deal too....for three hours on 3/12/21 morning.

So draft a qb in the first and bring in a guy to play until he is ready, with the possibility that this guy could play well enough that you win with him and let the rookie sit has always been my preferred option.
Mariota fits that and is head and shoulders better than newton especially in our offense where if he just knows what he is seeing and takes the easy play and doesn’t screw up when the play breaks down.
The only wild card to me is whether bb is thinking he already spent a year acclimating newton with the system. He’s learned what he’s going to learn so you don’t have to spend much time with him and can focus on getting the rookie ready.
Having to teach the system to a new free agent who will be starting may slow the development of the rookie.
If I can have 4 games of suck at qb and try to steal them with defense I may be better off than 8-10 games of sucking not so much until I hand it off to my franchise QB

Very interesting insight here.

By the way, there are I believe 42 guys on that list.
Please identify the 21 he could have had for half of what he paid newton. Hell you can’t even identify 21 that aren’t under contract with another team.
